While it is disheartening to see sharks with fishing line and hooks, (which are removed whenever possible) it’s also important to remember a lot of sharks aren’t so lucky and don’t get away, being caught as bycatch instead. A couple of days ago me and @johnygohan went diving with sharks with @oneoceandiving and @nataliekparra @keikoconservation at #Oahu, #Hawaii. It was the most perfect day, perfect conditions, cristal clear water and lots and lots of galapagos and sandbar sharks🦈 But unfortunately if you learn to look closely, no matter where you go these days you will always find trace of negative human impact in nature. We saw at least two different sharks with hooks and fishing lines stuck on their mouths, its really not ok what we are doing to our planet and it sure isn’t fair. Cant explain in words how relaxed and lucky I felt being able to swim with such beautiful beings, its seriously like therapy and its sad to realize how they are being either slaughtered every day just for shark fin soup or being affected by how polluted the ocean is. Thank you @oneoceandiving not only for taking people to swim with sharks and make them realize they are not the man eating monsters the media has portrayed them to be but also for taking the time to explain to people in every single one of your tours why are sharks so important and crucial for a healthy ecosystem 🙏🏻
