Make eye-catching stenciled shark cookies that are ideal for ocean-themed parties or shark fans. Learn how to use an airbrush to create detailed shark patterns on these cookies.
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 teaspoon salt. Blue gel food coloring. Shark-shaped cookie cutter. Edible airbrush colors blue, white, gray. Shark-themed stencils. Edible adhesive spray.
Instructions: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, and beat until well combined. Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms. Divide the dough into two equal portions and wrap each in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C. Roll out one portion of the chilled dough on a floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Use the shark-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shark shapes from the dough, and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow them to cool on a wire rack. Repeat the rolling, cutting, and baking process with the second portion of dough. Once the cookies are completely cool, prepare your airbrush with blue food coloring. Spray a light blue base onto each cookie and let it dry. Place a shark-themed stencil over a cookie. Use edible adhesive spray to secure the stencil in place. Load the airbrush with white and gray edible airbrush colors. Lightly spray over the stencil, creating a shark-like pattern on the cookie. Carefully remove the stencil to reveal the stenciled design. Repeat the stenciling process for all the cookies. Let the airbrushed designs dry completely before serving or packaging the cookies.
