I brought an old project out of storage: my second attempt to build a smart watch.
The original plan was to sync time over bluetooth from my phone. However, that’s proven to be a pain in the ass, so I’m going to sync it from my computer and hope it keeps time on its own. 20 hours in, and it’s doing well.
I’ve got a wrist strap for my second generation home made... I guess it’s a smart watch? It’s pretty dumb for a smart watch.
Ever since I built that wristwatch with that neopixel ring, I’ve been thinking of the next iteration in the line. What you see here are the first steps in realizing that idea.
A Sharp low-power LCD, 24-detent rotary encoder, tiny buzzer, and an Adafruit Feather 32u4 with Bluefruit LE on board. Not pictured, the 850mAh lithium ion battery I’m going to power it with. Initially, I thought it would need a 5v boost module for the LCD, but it apparently likes 3.3V natively, which simplifies the design.
Initial test programs have confirmed that the components are working, but I just need to integrate them into one piece of useful software. Have any of you ever seen a bluetooth device poll its host for the current time?
