Agrokomplex is the follow up to last years debut Ron Gallipoli Loves You All for the Sharpie Crows front man Sam Bradford under his solo moniker. Bringing together another wild array of electronic mishmash that slinks and winds its way through nine more cuts of Mr. Bradford's brand of dark humored nature. As before, there is variety to be had here on Ron Gallipoli's latest, which starts off with a track that greatly reminds of the heyday of the chilled atmosphere of the 90's electronic wave/boom with its down tempo vibe and the heavy dosage of samples that paint just a right amount of eeriness around the entire track. At times Gallipoli finds himself ranging into the tropical influences that graced a couple or so tracks from Loves You All, but overall it appears that Agrokomplex is a darker and larger venture into darkwave territory, with a load of bass heavy synth and a general emphasis on minimal background noise, only with some occasional flourishes of cutting electronics or guitar. One thing that has always appealed to me is Sam Bradford's vocals, which have been an essential part to Sharpie Crows' sound and obviously a large reason as to their last album 12 Omeros being as astonishingly good as it is. His delivery is borderline effortless, with a slight drawl that begs the question of whether he hasn't slept for a couple days. As it has with the Crows, Bradford's vocals add that level of personality/uniqueness needed to help a project like Ron Gallipoli to succeed. It seems Bradford could almost surround himself with any type of music and, in a chameleon like manner, it would fit. Nevertheless, Agrokomplex is yet again a wonderful adventure into the space of sounds gestating in the alternate universe in which Ron Gallipoli seems to exist.
