and while im saying words on here casper and shedir are both nonbinary. mezany has a huge pantheon of gods and mythical figures who no one actually believes in anymore, but remain culturally relevant from a secular standpoint in the federation -- similarly, elven pronouns are genderless, but i imagine that the elves still engage with vestigial gender categories from feudal ulendell without imbuing them with any real power. they are gender agnostic but also gender maximalist. i think the younger generations have started to adopt gendered nouns from Common and use them in a heavily ironized fashion. so. my friend markab is only a "man" in the sense of erotic parody. like i am this meaning i will playact this and subvert it by adopting it because its funny and it works for me and makes me feel sexy 🖤 hes just gay. meanwhile casper's situation is even more convoluted bc as established in his arc he was to some degree assigned Manhood (a category that does have significant social baggage in victra) and he does have some relationship with it. but he's also always resonated with aspects of victran femininity. casper was a boy who was part girl on his mom's side who was a haunted doll. and then he went to mezany and got even more genderfucked so now his whole deal is a mystery even to him. he is just a fainting couch bitch. corrupt dickensian schoolmistress. village slut witch. failed gladiatrix. carrion
