A Moment of Silence
It was a quiet moment for him.
Not just because it was a quiet day, but because Eddie felt a moment of respect was overdue. Which was why he was out here now, long after the sun had set and most everyone had fallen asleep. In all honesty? Eddie didn't know what else to do. But Bro... Even if he didn't know exactly what had happened to the man, even if he hadn't been really involved with the rest of Bro's family... He still thought of him as family, when his own had been small and unsteady. Bro had done so much for him, even now.
It didn't feel right to do nothing, even if it was just a small thing.
So here he was. Standing out on the roof of the apartment building in the cool night air, with nothing but a small orb of light to serve as a 'candle'. He held it in one hand as he fished out his staff with the other, pausing only for a moment to give a hard, thick swallow and extend the staff to its full length.
Eddie let the light hover on its own as he went to clasp the staff with both of his hands, one on top of the other with fingers laced together, the light soon moving to rest over his hands. He rested the bottom of the staff on the ground, holding it upright in front of him.
With that, he closed his eyes...and thought.
He thought about how it had only been a little over a year since he had met Bro online. Thought about how they had chatted, and the first time Eddie met him in person after he had insisted to teach the teen to defend himself. The times that they had actually gotten to spend together, either playing games, or watching movies. When he was there to provide comfort, and help, and protect him...
His grip on this staff tightened slightly, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes despite a stiff jaw and gritted teeth. His forehead suddenly leaned forwards to hit the staff, his mind straying to how Bro had left after he had told him about the purists. That had been the last thing they had talked about together. That had been the last time he had seen Bro.
Eddie hardly noticed when the tears had started to run down his face, quiet whimpers and sobs just barely escaping him as his shoulders shook.
