          Dark eyes fell to the ground, old habits really do die hard it seems. The Uchiha had been forgiven far easier than he deserved- especially when it came to her. After the torture and the pain he knows he put her through, she chose kindness over rage. 

     “I know,” 

          adjustments are hard, especially after the life he expected to die living. Sasuke pulled the container of food towards him, taking a small bite before muttering quietly,

     “thank you for the food.”

“Hey, doll, ”       Kurotsuchi had arrived unannounced in Konohagakure not two hours ago, but had taken her sweet time in making herself known to the more formal institutions in the main city. Something about foreign foods really got her gears going, and she’d indulged. Now, she was approaching a familiar shock of pink hair, grinning lopsidedly. 

“ Sakura, right? Have I ever told you that you get prettier every time I see you? ”       She was sweetening the pot. Her hand came up to grasp the back of her neck, belying her anxiety. “ I, uh... I came t' hand deliver some paperwork that’s ‘bout...six weeks overdue. ”

          Gazes sparked where they met, leafy green darkening to mirror the black coal. Pale fingers tighten their grip on the bag, a clear sign of distrust and rebellion. Sakura’s stare was menacing, a weaker person would be trembling fearfully, but the Uchiha was fully prepared to take whatever she threw at him. 

     “You need rest, and I need things to do. Enough arguing, I’ll take it.”
