does it matter whether Alice in Wonderland was not *originally* about drugs when it has so interestingly and creatively been reinterpreted to be so?

A very interesting question, and definitely in the vein of “just how dead is the author anyway?”

I think on one hand it’s important to parse out the difference between how the work was intended and received at the time, while also looking at how it has evolved in pop culture since then.

Because I think there’s a difference between creatively re-imagining a piece, and the sort of click-bait falsehood “did you know it was about drugs all along?!” that gets passed around? And it’s an interesting difference

You are not the first person to be surprised that I am short (5′2″/157cm). Most of my real-life meetings of internet friends have included some version of the sentiment, “I expected you to be taller!” I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a tall personality. 😜
