Chi dice che un coordinato corsetto e reggiseno debba essere solo utilizzato come intimo? 😍 . . Corset and bra, not only lingerie set 😍 . . Grazie a @domenico_persichella_ph e @baby_mis_ per la foto stupenda ❤️ . #corset #corsetry #sheer #sheerfabric #italianstyle #italianfashion #elegance #outerwear #underbustcorset #bra #abbigliamento #fattoinitalia #modaitaliana #handmade #italianbrand #italianmade #sartoriaitaliana #sartoria #tailormade (presso Atelier di Elisa Saponaro) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC-qgGEImVM/?igshid=w9cieb16nkdy
My favourite trick for working with slippery fabrics is to soak the yardage in a gelatine bath before cutting. It gives it just enough papery stiffness to make it easier to work with and rinses out very well. I took the instructions from Susan Khalje’s website and have used it on everything from poly chiffon to silk twill. It’s brilliant, hope you find it helpful 😁 Pour ~15g of gelatine into a glass of cold water and let it sit for 30 mins (I use about 1.5 packs of the Dr Oetker gelatine you can get in the supermarket). Add the solution to 3l of hot water. Add the fabric and leave it to soak for about an hour. Squeeze out the water and hang to air dry. #sewingtip #cosplaytip #sheerfabric #slipperyfabric #silk #chiffon #irishcosplay #irishcosplayer https://www.instagram.com/p/BxU5ZwVjH12/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wcp4exk7dego
You've seen the sewn version of my Weiss swimsuit cover-up, so here's a collage of the in progress photos I took as I painted it. The stencil is just regular printer paper. I printed the image from the RWBY wiki, cut it out with an X-acto knife, and taped it down. Usually, I trace around the stencil with a pencil or gel pen (which you're probably not supposed to do, but those fabric pencils have never worked for me), but this fabric was way too sheer for my gel pen to show up. Using a size 10/0 round paintbrush, I traced around the entire stencil. It took about 4 hours. After peeling off the stencil (and it was stuck in several places because of the paint, I filled it in with three coats of white Tulip soft matte paint and a final layer of DecoArt Pearl for additional unnecessary shimmer. I should add that I stabilized and elevated the fabric with a 12" wooden embroidery hoop. It was only $2 at Hobby Lobby, and I didn't have to sacrifice the size. There's also a little preview of the lovely light blue lace I ordered for the edges. If you EVER need lace for a cosplay, do yourself a favor and order from laceplace.com. You'll find lovely stuff at your local craft store, but if you can't find the right thing, Lace Place will probably have it. I've used their lace for all my Weiss cosplays as well as for my wedding dress. #verylegitcosplay #rwby #rwbycosplay #weissschnee #weisscosplay #weissschneecosplay #cosplay #rwbyswimsuit #swimwear #swimsuit #bathingsuit #swimsuitcoverup #daishocon2017 #daishocon #sewingproject #sewing #wip #workinprogress #sheerfabric #swimsuitcosplay #cosplayswimsuit #fabricpaint #fabricpainting #snowflake #lace
Sublimation on Sheer Fabric – Final Sample
This sample was created using sublimation printing on sheer polyester fabric. The image comes from a digitally edited motif of a leaf skeleton (see Sample 1), where I isolated structural veins to create a bold visual impact. Although delicate cotton fabrics like muslin were tested, sublimation is a technique designed specifically for synthetic materials. Therefore, I chose a lightweight sheer polyester fabric to successfully transfer the print and evoke a feeling of lightness. Cotton organza, which has a similarly transparent quality but with a more natural texture, will be tested in the future using the same motif. After printing the image, I created cut-outs by carefully burning the fabric’s surface with a heated tool. This intervention allowed light to pass through select areas, creating depth and contrast between printed and unprinted zones—without layering fabrics. The outcome is visually compelling. The combination of transparency, organic forms, and the ethereal print creates a floating effect. The print remains crisp, and the perforated surface enhances the idea of fragility and resilience—concepts that mirror the emotional layers explored in my narrative of female liberation. The strength of this sample lies in its control and aesthetic delicacy. The main challenge involved applying heat without damaging the surrounding fabric, which requires attention and precision. The future use of cotton organza may offer new tactile and symbolic possibilities while preserving translucency.

A long time ago, this was how you dressed for your holiday party. You slipped into your pretty cocktail dress, you set out a tray of fancy homemade hors de oeuvres, you shook up a pitcher of clever Christmas cocktails and you went out to greet your guests. In your apron. Not the workhorse apron that handled all the behind the scenes chores when it came to food prep. Not the apron that had splatters and stains and a bit of kitchen grease woven permanently into its fabric. Not the apron that was tattered and faded from years of use. No, you didn't greet your guests in that one. You greeted your guests in this apron. The one with the sheer nylon fabric and the pretty poinsettia flowers on the pocket. This apron. The one that knew no actual messy work. The one that had never seen a sinkful of dirty dishes or a tomato sauce covered counter. No no. This was a party after all, and in such cases, when you were greeting guests, as hostess at home, you put on your ball gown of aprons. This one. Made of gauzy material, thin and delicate. The one that was soft and silky to the touch, should anyone brush past you while filling glasses. This one that not only looked flawless but made you look flawless too. Like the throwing together of this party was absolutely no trouble or work or effort at all. Indeed. This was party after all. Only beauty and cheer were welcome here!
