Hello I am so in my feelings today I actually decided to write a Tumblr post.

It’s July 7! The day I believe Blake and Gwen had their first kiss. Here’s a bunch of reasons why.

First, it’s a date she remembered specifically. In context an interview made it seem like the day Blake announced he was getting divorced, but it wasn’t a direct quote. That makes no sense though, because why would he tell staff & producers halfway through blinds instead of before them, if the reason was to avoid any awkwardness bc as he said his life would look completely different by the time the show aired. Carson in an interview said he knew about the divorce about a month before it went public. He definitely could’ve known before everyone else since he is both a close friend and an exec producer. But regardless, blinds began June 29 and went for 3 days before a holiday break. Blake then filed officially on July 6 (remotely from LA) and was in LA that week until flying to a show the next weekend. During that time they filmed the coach performance and two more days of auditions.

Then there’s the timeline situation. Gwen wrote obsessed and splash between June 25 and July 21ish (presumably in mid-July). On Howard Stern she made it seem as though they were written different sessions but it could’ve been back to back days. Or the same day. Regardless, they were written before she went to Montana. She got back from Montana on July 27 and since she called it a family vacation we can presume it was more than a day or two. That leaves about 3 weeks for them to be close enough that Gwen’s writing about “not going home” and getting some pleasure together.

Except as she said on Stern there were only so many days for them to really be hanging out. They had July 6-10, then as far as we know he wasn’t back again until it was time for him to film his battle rehearsals on the 22nd. So even if Gwen’s vaca was just a long weekend and she was in town to hang out while he was there for battles, we still need to factor in the studio sessions writing/recording splash. (Also the ex was in Europe at the time so she also had full custody of the kids, i.e. even more limited time.)

Now the songs:

There have been plenty of debates about this over the years but I cannot believe there was no kissing involved over this period of time, based on the lyrics of her songs. I don’t think she would use “pretending I’m falling in love” if there was no making out. She has always seemed to take the physical aspect of a romantic relationship very seriously. And in splash she writes about the energy pulling her back to him, as if she has been on him before, so to speak. And that song, with the rising kundalini and the rosebud and all the water references is definitely about ~making love~. To me it makes sense that they have already had a first kiss when she’s at this point.

To build on that idea, all of the multiple references to the first kiss over the years indicates it was something that was spontaneous and out of nowhere (in my opinion). Splash and Obsessed are the opposite, she’s cerebral and planning in her actions and intentions in those songs, in her own chaotic way.

With all this in mind, I choose to believe (and celebrate!!) July 7 is the day of their first kiss. Happy Kiss Day! ❤️❤️❤️

I forgot what magazine she talked about July 7. Maybe cosmo maybe Marie Claire I really don’t know except it was a fashion mag. Honestly the first kiss couldve been any day july 6-9.

And to put any minds at ease, he had filed for divorce and she was legally separated so it’s nothing untoward.

Also to address the whole “email to text to romance” I think they probably were emailing and getting emotionally closer like that while they were not in the same place, I just think there also was a lot of making out whenever the timing worked out.

What about go ahead and break my heart? What is your theory behind its timeline?

That one is a lot easier! (And more or less confirmed.)

So knockouts were Aug. 24-25 and then there was a press junket on Aug. 26. He went to see someone perform in South (or North?) Dakota on the 27th then went fishing in Mexico with friends over for 3 days over that weekend.

When Blake actually wrote his part is more vague but because he has a story (If I recall) about sitting out on his porch writing for her. So I think we can assume he wrote it in OK. He was definitely in Oklahoma on Aug. 21-22, but I don’t know other exact days. After Aug. 11 (when battles ended.) He was back again in LA for KO rehearsals and I think it’s reasonable to guess he stayed a little extra to spend time with Gwen. This is kind of irrelevant...the point is he definitely wrote his half at some point between Aug. 12 and Aug. 22.

Gwen’s is easier. In a radio interview she said that he sent her his half on the way out of town (so Aug 27) and then 2 days later she sent him her part, but he was in Mexico with no service so he didn’t respond, which stressed her out. So basically she wrote her half around Aug. 28.

Ok I lied bc when they wrote the rest of it is a bit of a mystery. I have no proof whatsoever but always guessed they spent a couple days together in early September, so they could’ve worked on it then.

Another possibility (maybe more likely?) is that they wrote it when he came back in October for season 10 filming. That’s when they started spending a lot more time together, met the family, found the truth, etc.

But the exchange of verses they talk about was for sure the last week of August!

I love your answers, thank you. So you say that you think G feels insecure every time she falls deeper in love with B. Do you think that happens even now and what about B, how do you think he feels, reacts?

No, I think at some point she was able to let herself fully trust that he was the real deal and she wasn’t going to get played. I’m thinking this was the case by early 2017 because of that lyric “I finally know what they mean by love,” and it could explain her line in interviews that she was still falling in love during s12. Probably it was gradual until at some point she was like oh, ok, this is what it’s supposed to be like.

I think also the further she got from her previous relationship the more she was able to heal and grow stronger as a human, so that she was able to see more clearly and be more confident. I think it helps that she and Blake seem to be equals in their relationship. It seems like a true partnership, and of course they are also best friends so I think that leads to a level of comfort that never existed in her marriage. And because of that it took her a while to relax and understand how this one was going to be so much healthier and more fulfilling.

I’ve always gotten the impression that Blake was pretty much ready since day 1, so probably it was a bit unnerving to see her doubt herself and him, but I think part of that best friendship is him being able to help her through her moments of anxiety.

That is how I felt too, they are way past engagement at this point and they won’t tell us their plans until after it happens or soon before. Where it seems sometimes Gwen are excited about stuff and like to share, I think over the years we know how good she is to keep things under wraps. She’s incapable of lying, we just need to ask her the right questions.

So now that you're back (!!!), I really need your thoughts about when Blake and Gwen's actual anniversary is, like we've obviously passed it this summer, but do you have any new thoughts about when/how they got together since your last science posts? #thesignsthesignsthesigns

Ohhh I’m so excited for this ask!! I don’t have any NEW thoughts per se, but I feel like she/they reinforced my existing theory. 

I have always said I think July 7 is their anniversary…the date when they had their unexpected, never in their wildest dreams (lol i think they dreamt about it plenty but anyway…), colorado hit & everything changed moment. 

The reasons:

1. In Harper’s Bazaar (i think) the article quotes her as saying July 7, and says she’s talking about when she found out about Blake’s divorce. However, it doesn’t explicitly quote her saying “I found out about the divorce on July 7.” it just gives the date. 

This answer has never made any sense. Filming took place June 29-30 & July 7-8. He filed for divorce on July 6. Blake’s version of the story says he told everyone before the season started, so that they wouldn’t make things awkward by mentioning ML. He knew well in advance that everything would be finalized by the time the season aired, there’s no reason for him to have waited until after he filed, when he was hoping to avoid weirdness. 

In my opinion, it makes a lot more sense that she threw out July 7 because it was a date at the front of her mind, and the interviewer took it as an answer to ‘when did you learn about blake’s divorce?’…she has done this on other occasions like when she implied she wrote MMLY in January even though she wrote it in September. Sneaky bunny. 

2. Also, the Timing. So they found out about each other’s situations in late June. Fast forward and Gwen was listening to the demo of Splash on her vacation in Montana, which ended on July 27. And she also wrote Obsessed in there at some point, before Splash.But keep in mind Blake didn’t live in LA so there were limited days he was there in person. Sooo to me it makes sense they had a week of super intense emails and phone calls, and then he got back from the 4th of july break and they hung out again in person and that was it. And that leaves the rest of that week for Obsessing and a couple more weeks of even more intense talking, this time with a more-than-friends vibe, to get her ready for Splash.  That’s always been the calendar I’ve imagined. 

Flash forward 2 years and we have July 7, 2017: 

July 7, 2017 is the *first* time she ever posted a pic of Blake and one of the kids on a permanent SM site (rather than a snap/story that disappears in 24 hours). 

The night before was when they took Todd & Jen with them to Blake’s show for like a double date. 

And then also on July 7 she changed her icon to this cuteness 

So this is obviously just a theory and could be coincidence, but the apollo pic really convinced me that this date is their anniversary. 💖

What are your thoughts on Gwen's lyrics about the wedding ring? Does this change your mind again about the marriage topic? It's like I go back and forth, but now I'm leaning toward no marriage again. Lol

I don’t really have a strong opinion and the lyric didn’t really change that. In part because Gwen was writing these songs 6 months ago and that’s a long time in a 2 year old relationship. And I remain torn because I can see them thinking the strength of their love is enough and they are committed forever so what difference will a signed document make. BUT I can also see them wanting that binding contract to show the world that they are a unit. And also I think as chaotic as they are they are also fairly pragmatic people (Blake especially) and marriage helps in some ways. But honestly neither side really is winning in my head. And lately I’ve kind of been feeling like I think marriage would be great bc it would show the world like yes this is serious and maybe it would inspire blake to talk about the kids more, etc. But those are reasons that only matter to me/us, fans who don’t know them in real life and have no real stake in the outcome. I have no idea if those are things that they even think about (I would guess mostly they aren’t). 

A year ago I was SURE they were engaged, like the “wall art” post (twitter ate my answer to that message fyi)

I thought they were just waiting until the right time to announce their plans. And then that never happened. 

My friend said something to me that really rang true. She said: “I feel like Blake wants to take his time and not f* things up this time, so he's trying to do everything right. And he might not always be there at home with Gwen but she's still happy so he's doing something right, and he's honestly with her so much and he lives in her house where she lived and made a family and memories with another man and he's still so happy." 

This point made a lot of sense to me. And while it’s not as if they’re still dating, it might also be that they are so secure in their relationship that he is waiting until the timing is perfect and everything is lined up before he actually proposes and they get married.

On the other hand she was wearing a huge rock on her left ring finger at church today so maybe they’re already engaged and this speculation can finally end. 

Or maybe it’s just a piece of jewelry and they’re planning to live as domestic partners/common law marrieds forever and that’s what it is.

I know your epic s7 science is coming, but as a taster, what is your favourite season 7 Shefani moment?

Oh god, that depends. If you mean interactions that occurred because they were both on the voice, then for sure the Buzzfeed Panel and the Lip Sync Battle. The Ellen interview and the ice bucket challenge are also precious. 

But if you mean on the show, there’s so many omg. It’s so small but I love these looks in knockouts: 

And, also in knockouts, this statement by gwen: “I want to make you look how I would want you to look if I was gonna make out with you. A perfect example: Blake. He had a mullet! But he changed his look and now he’s SO handsome!“

But actually at the time the scene I noticed their chemistry was when she was pointing out that she was the only female judge. She goes down the line of chairs and goes “boy, boy,” then Blake interrupts with “man,” and she echoes him and calls him a man instead. She’s so cute. I was like omg my babe has a crush.
