I LANDED TWO LOOPS IN ONE TRAINING SESSION MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!
It is mildly infuriating that my favourite skating socks have all nearly died and that particular brand doesn't have any patterns i like any more.
And my favourite gloves of the past two years are suddenly giving me the ick to the point where I can only wear them 5 minutes at a time before wanting to rip them off.
Time for a public holiday (Easter Monday is a public holiday in Australia fyi) personal skating update.
For some reason Brian has moved this week's lesson to Friday. Which gives me today and Wednesday to get some skills nailed (hopefully).
Training outfits until the weather starts being a bit less....random...are basically working my way through the shelf of band shirts I have.
Today's was the tea party 'black River ' .
I landed a tiny loop jump! And a sort of okay-ish back spin! Unfortunately it was busy enough that the decapitation of small children was a real possibility.
I got what I could done but it was stressful.
I think I should paint my nails.
what colour should I paint my nails?
silver
gold
black
purple
teal
blue
red
If the poll fails I'll just put the bottles into a hat or something.
Anyway. I'm off to drink coffee and think about skating. Byes.
Personal skating update:
Tested out a couple of a loops. Under rotated and two footed.....
But we are so back.
Will still treat with caution though. Brian mentioned testing on Wednesday so I'm definitely going to be drilling the absolute crap out of 3 turns. Hopefully the left forward inside one will refrain from trying to kill me for once.
Trying to learn s - step/chocktws and they are not working. I get them in principle but getting them to actually work is another thing.
Also learning a new entry for sal! I think its tge same as junhwan cha! (Mohawk, back outside 3, Mohawk, sal) so that's cool! Feels clunky as all hell at the moment though.
Anyway, off i go to think about skating...
Last skate of the year, and I went with black as a symbol of the death of the old and birth of the new (wore nin 'bad witch' tshirt. Felt it fit the vibe).
Was going to video, but it was probably the most blissfully quiet Sunday ever so I just went with vibes. Chris did a stair run with me and repeatedly called me a bitch cause he doesn't do cardio. Which was amusing.
So, we shall do a mini wrap up for the year:
The good:
Camel spin is coming along nicely i think. Waltz and sal are pretty solid. Over all skating is improving i think. I'm showing signs of getting sit spin back. And think I might be able to go from camel to a tuck position in a couple of months if I keep at it. I can do backwards cross rolls without feeling like I'm going to die. Which honestly didn't think would ever happen. Coaching change has turned out better than expected.
The bad: no loop. And I am angry at myself for it. A hole year of working on it and it hasn't clicked yet. Which means i haven't learnt flip or Lutz yet. Which i am also pissed about. Toe loop still needs work. Left Forward inside 3 turn likes to try and kill me once a month for no apparent reason. Back spin is still inconsistent and unstable. Didn't finish skate school. I couldn't justify the expense of both that and private lessons. So it had to go. Didn't do the elementary pattern test or preliminary program nor any competitions.
So a bit of a mixed bag.
Goals for next year:
All single jumps.
Start working towards single axel.
Start learning more turns and steps
Pass elementary pattern test.
Pass preliminary program.
Maybe compete.
Start making figure skating costumes.
See yuzuru hanyu skate again.
Watch a grand prix event in real life.
Keep having a good time.
Next week I might start the year off with a 'heros' theme so I can wear my yuzuru and david bowie shirts.
I land two and half loops today! There were signs of back spin! Maybe I can claw my way out of this improvement slum after all *crosses fingers and toes in hope I'm not cursing myself *
Personal skating update.
Currently my only thoughts training outfit wise is 'surviving Melbourne's weird autumn weather ' which basically has me sticking with black. It's goes with everything and honestly it's become a comfort colour.
Coach is happy with my progress. And we're working towards flip again. It's going to be interesting as the picking action is far lower on the toe pick than I thought and getting the timing is going to be...an interesting experience.
With it being school holidays and there being skate camps the rink is starting to get busy earlier. And competition season begins early so alot of the skaters who would normally be on the other rink are on the public rink so practice is going to be interesting the next couple or weeks. At leat by next week track works will be finished (hopefully) so I'm taking so long to get in and out of Melbourne.
I have paid my rink membership today, which will last me 6 months. Massive chunk of money but it means I don't have to pre book for public skating and its cheaper in the long run.
Anyway. May try to video if I can get some space. But I'm not holding my breath at this point.
I miss being able to do jumps ;_;
*death glaring at knee while putting ice pack on it*
Get better damn it.
