For every ♪ in my inbox I’ll post a song I listen to for character inspiration.
Let’s take a look at these lyrics.
If you could see where I’ve been / You’d touch the hand that’s touching sin
Even after Gaara reforms, he still very much considers himself a monster for a long time. Then, when he does begin seeing himself as truly human, he is still quite aware of his past misdeeds and feels he need to make up for them, to build greatness over them.
The rest of the lyrics are equally beautiful and capture the disjointed sense of self and the .. essentially the labyrinth Gaara must work through to both encourage others to recognise him as well as acknowledge himself as a person who can do good in this world.
Lyrics aside, the actual music does the same. Just listen to the Youtube video linked up top - every beat is discombobulated and confusing, yet it all.. links together in a single work of art.
I think that speaks volumes for Gaara’s character as well, and I love it.
