Staring down at her hands, he remembered that he was trying to keep those negative thoughts at bay for the squad’s sake, and she was no exception, no matter what their relationship became. She had too many responsibilities to worry for his insecurities. It didn’t matter how he felt, it’s a thought that had been drilled in his mind from a young age -- it was silly of him to forget that (you don’t matter; you’re a waste a space, leeching everyone’s time).
He had to apologize -- after all, he’d falsely accused her of something so self-serving and took away such important moments of her limited time to focus on a leech.
