If you own twenty distinct types of socks, the first loss will be one type of sock, and its match will be removed from the pool. This would decrease the probability of the same type of sock going missing next. Do you see now? Eventually you’re bound to lose two of the same type, but getting there could take any number of spins. There’s a timeline where you lose the same type of sock twice in a row.
