1.8 Reset Info!!
Ok this post is here to talk about how the reset is going to go down once we can update to the 1.8 Minecraft update.
Things that will be happening to Shimmerville in this update:
Map (after 30 days)
Ender chests (they will be deleted with the 1.7 map, so empty your chests!)
(Note: the only thing being reset in this update is the map. Your money, ranks, points, inventory are all safe.)
Map reset information:
The server will definitely receive some offline or whitelisted time to make sure the map and all plugins are functioning properly.
When the server comes back online, all players must be updated to a 1.8 client. (To update your client, open the Minecraft launcher, click Edit Profile, then click the drop-down menu for “Use version” and select the “release 1.8”.)
When players connect back to the server after the update, all will seem normal as if nothing happened. (Except for maybe a few bunnies hopping around.)
Players who have not yet joined the server will spawn in the 1.8 map. The 1.8 map will be up alongside the 1.7 map that old players will spawn in.
Players on the 1.7 map will be able to get back and forth from maps by using “/warp oldmap” and “/warp newmap”. Yes, it’s that simple.
The 1.7 map will be untouched and left alone for 30 days. Players who opt to WorldEdit their builds over to the new map will have their builds removed from the 1.7 map after they have been pasted to the 1.8 map. This process will be free and can be used as many times as the player needs it to be. (Note: only HeadAdmins, some Admins, and some Mods have access to WorldEdit and will be able to help you with the WorldEditing process. Some Builders and HeadBuilders may be inclined to help you as well, but only if it is their choice to, as this is not their job.) Once this 30-day time period is over, the map will be rendered obsolete and removed from the server. However, the map will be up for download on our website for sentimental reasons.
After the 1.7 map is deleted, all players will spawn in the 1.8 map’s new spawn. The will also be carrying whatever items they had in the 1.7 map. (Note: this is important. Ender chests in the 1.7 map may or may not carry over to the 1.8 map, so make sure to empty our your ender chests before the 1.7 map is deleted!)
Server name and primary domain reset information:
I (Chewy) have decided that renaming the server back to the name of my first server will highly motivate me in making the server better. My ties with the first server were cut short when the original owner left the server business with no warning. I went on to become the primary owner of the server reincarnated as a server with a different name which eventually become WillowBuild.
The IP mc.willowbuild.net will still allow you to connect to the server, but it is HIGHLY recommended that you use the new IP to connect.
Some ranks may change colors, more so for the staff ranks.
The current website will redirect to the new website.
The IP will be play.shimmerville.com.
The IP will also be mc.shimmerville.com.
Either IP will allow you to connect to the server.
The Teamspeak IP is shimmerville.teamspeak.vg
The same WillowBuild server you know and love will still be there. We’re just making this small change to boost morale!
