Saturday mornings are a chance for us to get out of the house with the kids and treat ourselves to an americano (Clint) and a sweetened almond milk latté (Me). I make our lives sound so European, except for the almond milk latté part, that's very not European. Before you start rolling your eyes (Sarah Jones) and think what a-holes, let me paint a little picture of how our morning started, at around say 5:30am and why getting out of the house was on the top of my list. I have a sinus infection, Coco is sick as well with an ear infection, poor thing was up half the night and Otto decided he's going to use a real hammer outside to chop wood for our fire...in only his underwear. Awesome. Where's the Modern Southwest in this story? Lucky for us, we chose to try out Shine Coffee off Central and Vernon in mid-town Phoenix. On my radar through a Kickstarter campaign, they accomplished their goal last week and a small park was opened adjacent to the bar. What's amazing about this place, especially for a family with small children, is the Shine Lounge. t's beautiful modern Southwest decor and wide range of kid's activities make Shine awesome to just hangout and relax. And on this antibiotic, hammer-filled morning, relaxing is exactly what I needed. That and some pain killers.
