Headcanon: Shinigami Cycles

All of the shinigami are trapped in cycles. William has always just pushed through day by day, working hard but walling off his own emotions. Grell has always just searched for those emotional highs of love with reckless abandon. Ronald did what was needed, but partied each night without worry about what tomorrow might hold or giving a thought to the past. They started these cycles in life and are stick stuck in these same patterns. Once they figure out how to break their personal cycle, they might be able to move on and find their own redemption.
