AS much as she appreciates her sister's concern , the questions make her ask herself if she is truly alright. Though , she decides not to ponder over it. There is actually nothing that is bothering her anymore other than the burning heat of the day. Who would not be bothered by the blazing heat during a busy day out?

The blissful walk , however , compensates for the heat. It's another peaceful day && Kelly intends to spend every moment of it properly , even if it means toiling away at work. At least she's doing something productive with her energy. She glances at Connie briefly before looking at the path up ahead.

" Okay , but what about you? " she signs , her attention returning to her sister again. " Are you alright? "

At Kelly’s question of why wouldn’t she be, Connie can’t help the tilt of her head and the way lips pressed into a small line. She was her older sister, there wasn’t really EVER a time when she wasn’t concerned about Kelly, or hoping that she was okay, and that hadn’t changed during the time that they’d been apart either, despite the fact that she’d been the one stuck in that cave and everything else.

But Connie also knew that perhaps sometimes she could be a bit too... Motherly about Kelly. She wasn’t a kid, she was an adult too, and maybe sometimes, she should calm down a little bit on the worrying.

‘ I don’t know. I just worry. ‘  She signed, with a small, apologetic smile pulling at lips.  ‘ I know it must have been tough when I was gone. ‘  She then explained before answering about herself.  ‘ I’m okay. I’m just glad to be back, and to be able to be in the sun again. ‘  Being TRAPPED in that cave hadn’t exactly been pleasant.

Why he felt nervous, he didn’t know. Connie was his friend, his FAMILY, there was no reason for him to be feeling on edge. And of course, she reinforced that, with her warm, welcoming smile that always seemed to come so easily to her. Like a ray of sunshine, but not overbearing like the sweltering southern heat. He still didn’t quite understand how she managed to do that, seem so bright and happy DESPITE all she’d been through.

When she invited him inside, stepped aside to let him in, he was reluctant but gave a nod of his head, lips pressed into a small smile. Judith and RJ were having a sleepover with some school friends. It felt WEIRD being a father figure, even weirder that he had a job and they had school. Feet carried him inside her apartment, and he turned to look at her — he wasn’t very good at making himself at home in other people’s places. And he hoped it hadn’t seemed weird him coming here and asking what he had.

‘ Sorry if you were busy. ’

Connie taps Daryl's shoulder for his attention && holds up a little handmade banner that reads 'Happy Birthday'. Art isn't her strongest suit but she's put a lot of effort into this one. It's written in a big blocky font && decorated with the nicest art supplies she could find. Colored crayons , just a touch of something shiny && some doodles here && there to fill in the empty spaces. Then , she puts the banner down to sign 'Happy Birthday to You' with the brightest smile upon her lips. For a finish , she holds a hand up , her index finger && thumb stuck out into an 'L' shape && her pinkie finger raised (🤟🏻).

The tap on his shoulder can only be from Connie, he turns to her and reads the banner, a smile stretching across his face. The banner is bright and colorful and completely unexpected, but it's a nice touch. He raises his hands and signs "Thanks! It looks great, I love it!" He'd tuck it away safely in his things with the cards Judith and RJ had made him - though those had substantially more glitter glue on them. He grins down at the sign again and returns the one handed gesture she'd given him before signing "Thanks Connie, it's really great!"

Paul sees her hand swing into view before the rest of her. A raise of his brow in surprise at what’s in it follows. Peaches. Bright and fuzzy. Two of them. His attention moves up her arm, meets her eyes and he blinks in gratitude. Before going to take one, he’s motioned to take both and he insists she takes one for herself before he notices the basket in her other hand. 

“Ah,” lips twist into a smile and he gratefully accepts the gift putting one in his lap before taking a bit out of the other and practically melting into the tree trunk turned into a deck seat he’s perched on. Cross legged and looking like he’s more than content to go nowhere else other than right where he is for a while. Distanced from most of the others, he offers her a seat with a pat next to him. Anyone that comes bearing the gift of one of his favorite foods? Welcome company in his book. Signing ‘thank you, join me’ after--he’s learning and taking to ASL with an enthusiasm finding it more than useful, it’s the respectful thing to do.

‘Staying busy or taking a snap?’ And then he catches himself, shoots her a look of apology and corrects himself to, ‘break?’
