Day 5 - February 12th 2016

Today I checked out of my hotel in Iwamizawa early in the morning to head to New Chitose airport and leave Hokkaido. After a uneventful flight we caught the Monorail and JR Train to Shinjuku and made out way to the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel where we will be staying for the next two nights.

The hotel is in a great location, being surrounded by many shops and arcades, so there will be plenty to do in the next few days as we explore. The capsule is ventilated and does not really feel cramped, there is enough room to be comfortable so I doubt I'll have issues sleeping there.

We went for a quick walk around the city this evening but haven't really had a chance to explore much of the city yet. We did pop into a pachinko parlour (which is the equivalent of a gaming room in an Australian club but on steroids), the machines are very loud and quite different to the ones we have back home. We didn't have a try as I would rather not waste my holiday money gambling, but before I go home I will probably give it a try for a little while.

Each day you must check out of your capsule by 10am here, so I'll surely have a long day tomorrow in that case.
