🍑 What is something you hyperfocus on in your portrayal?

Oh my god, why does answering this question feel so embarrassing? I'm ashamed to acknowledge and admit that I do have ridiculous hyperfixations in my portrayal of Gai that... don't always gel well with writing partners, I think, and I need to learn to balance that out.

My most recent hyperfocus is wanting to bring out the negative sides of Gai's character, in particular his obsessive way of showing his care and how it may just as well be as much for himself as for the one(s) he wants to show care to.

In the few years that I've been away from tumblr, I feel that the love for Gai in the fandom has grown a lot. That's absolutely great and I love that Gai is getting the recognition he deserves for the banger of a person that he is! But then I think there was an itch that was begging to be scratched -- a desire to show that he's not perfect either, and not just in the "he's too nice" way.

Gai is a man of extremes (we saw that in the chunin exams) and he is, ultimately, also known as one of the top jounin in Konoha; his idiosyncrasies go beyond silly quirks and comic relief. Figuring out what exactly these idiosyncrasies are and how his personal life could actually look like is a very delicious years-long challenge for me.

".....?" Shino looks at his kikaichu, wondering for a short moment when, exactly, he could have asked Sakura's opinion? Her calling his friends gross was unwarranted. If one dislikes something, they shouldn't say so to the person who loves it. His insects live in his body, they are a part of him, which means she basically called him gross.

His short moment of reflection comes to a conclusion; anger. Shino ominously turns to face Sakura, brows furrowed, a dark aura surrounding him.

"If insults are all you can say to me and my insects, then you should shut up, Sakura. Because that makes you gross, not us."

Continued from X | @shinobibound A squeak left him at how loud that was and he leaned back out of instinct, his body tensing unconsciously as he gazed over at him in surprise. Though he was soon struggling to process what he was saying as he continued. What...? Why would he...? It was true they looked similar and he'd have done the same but...

"A-ah!? I-I... W-well... T-that... E-eh...? I-I... I-I just... T-that..."

Kensei stilled. Eyes slide from the corner, posture slide casually although his stance had been clear, in a semi-defensive and offensive, preparing for a fight to breakout at any given moment. And with the way his temper currently had been at...

Perhaps a good fight would end up helping the visard cool off.

"C'mon on out. Or I'll drag your ass to show yourself."

Atieno couldn't help but notice the specific kind of smile that appeared on his face. They recognized it, they knew that they managed to get him in a place he didn't expect.

They couldn't help the slight, knowing smile that appears on their face in return. He seemed to be quite the curious character.

"Heh. I appreciate the reassurance. Nothing wrong with knowing that there's a little bit of grace there. Is this checking for evil spirits your usual task then?"

Vegeta stood quiet on what Blooma had said to hium. Forgiveness. A concept that was too foreign for him. Given everything he had done for so long and even now. Because of his inflated ego, Cell acheived perfection. His rival, Kakarotto died saving the Earth, which left him with no chance of ever settling their score. To add insult to injury, he had been outdone by both him and his child Gohan alike. The latter whom reached the true form beyond the Legendary Super Saiyan. Last but not least, an alternate timeline version of his flesh and blood died at Cell's hands and failed to avenge him, as Gohan did the job anyways.

Thus, the Saiyan Prince was in no situation for anything else. Aside from a slow and quiet nod, that gave away a sliver of humane weakness he'd normally refuse to show it on anyone else. Let alone her. But deep down, it was a sign that only time will tell...

Lenny was in a rush to get these fliers she'd printed for the local animal shelter's annual fundraiser posted around town. It was this weekend and she'd offered to help, as they needed volunteers and she had the free time.

A surprised squawk escaped from her lips when she ran into Chizuru. The stack of fliers in Lenny's hands fall out of her grasp, scattering about on the ground. "Oh, oh n-no! I'm — um, I'm s-so sorry!" she squeaked. "I — I sh-should really p-pay more attention to where I'm going!" She frowned softly, staring at the papers that were all over the place. Thank goodness it's not that windy today, or else she might've lost them all.
