Whenever he’s walking around without his shirt on, Shinwon will make an extra effort to be affectionate towards you and remind you how good his body is. He loves making you blush by squeezing you tight against his bare chest.
B ⇴ BEFORE DATING
You were working as a photographer for one of Pentagon’s shoots when you first met Shinwon. Of course, as the visual, you’d been told to put an extra focus on him, directing him meticulously so the photos were perfect. It was fair to say, when the boys looked over the magazine, they were more than pleased with your work.
C ⇴ CONFESSION
The members loved your work so much, that they asked their management specifically to have you work on their next album shoot too. This time around, Shinwon was determined not to be so quiet, and at the end of the shoot when you were packing away your equipment, he crept over to you and finally introduced himself properly, letting you know that he’d had his eye on you for quite some time, enquiring if you were free that evening.
D ⇴ DATES
You’d never met a man as into shopping, and specifically clothes shopping, as much as Shinwon. He loved to head out with you and find new pieces to add to his wardrobe, although he was a little more reluctant to shop for you as well. You always ended up leaving with far too many bags, it was a struggle for both of you to even make it back to the car with how much you’d bought. Having someone enjoy your hobby as much as you did though was definitely something you appreciated about dating Shinwon.
E ⇴ EXPERIENCE
He’d been spotted before on rumoured dates and with female friends, and so Shinwon knew that he had to be careful when he was out with you to make sure that you were protected. More than anything else, he wants to keep you safe and be mindful of your own protection when the two of you go out, and so he’ll always make sure to check over his route before you go out anywhere. Having been seen before, he’s wary about if it happens again, not on your own terms, and what the fans may think.
F ⇴ FIGHTING
At times, Shinwon’s temper can certainly get the better of him, something that you’ve been on the receiving end of on more than one occasion. He’s often guilty of speaking before thinking and letting his frustrations out before realising what’s actually going on. When you feel as if he’s unfairly shouting at you, you won’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and yell back at him until one of you eventually backs down. With a bit of time, the two of you always work things out, but with how stubborn Shinwon can be, arguments never go away straight away, they always need a bit of time to be figured out.
G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY
Every time he saw his family, he always showed them pictures of the things that the two of you got up to, so when you went to meet his family for the very first time, it felt as if they already knew almost every single thing there was to know about you, surprising you by just how much they actually knew thanks to Shinwon.
H ⇴ HOME
Moving you into his home was a slow build up for Shinwon. The last thing he wanted to do was move too quickly and risk messing things up, and so he cautiously suggested you stay over for a night, gradually working up until he felt like the two of you were ready to take the big step and hand over the keys.
I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”
Shinwon is very open and honest about how he’s feeling, so when he was having a random ramble about anything that came to mind, he couldn’t stop himself before he was pouring out his feelings to you. The last thing you expected was for love to be mentioned, although, you couldn’t hide your smile when you realised what he’d said.
J ⇴ JEALOUSY
His temper could definitely end up getting in the way whenever Shinwon get jealous too, before he let things fizzle out of control, he’d always go over and stand incredibly closely into your side to deter anyone from overstepping any boundaries. You can only laugh at how protective he is of you, even if there are times when he doesn’t need to be. Even though you’ll know jealousy is most definitely the cause of it, Shinwon will always reject that suggestion, assuring you he just likes being by your side.
K ⇴ KIDS
Having a family is something that Shinwon definitely wants one day, but whilst his focus is on the group and music, he doesn’t tend to entertain too many conversations about it. He wants to live in the now and not fret too much about what may or may not happen later down the line. When kids feels like a bit more of a reality, then he’ll be much more open towards discussing having a family with you.
L ⇴ LAUGHTER
For all his hot-headed moments, Shinwon is also a huge prankster, forever winding you up by setting things up around the apartment that can make you jump or cause a mess that somehow you have to clean up. You’re very good at getting your own back on Shinwon though, he’s easily scared, which you love to use to your advantage, often hiding around the house and jumping out on him when he least expects it. Prank wars is very much a thing between the two of you, forever trying to outdo each other with who can scare the other one the most and who can end up creating the most mess as well.
M ⇴ MISSING
Shinwon has a tendency to shrug off missing you whenever anyone ever asks how he’s feeling, especially when it comes to missing you. It’s hard on him, especially at meet and greets when so many of the fans want to compliment your relationship and tell him how sweet the two of you are. It’s then, when he misses the sweet moments with you, being able to hug you and tell you about his day without having to worry what time it is and whether you’ll be awake or tucked up in bed, not wanting to be disturbed. It’s hard on him, but he’ll always do his best to smile through the pain for the sake of everyone else.
N ⇴ NICKNAMES
You love to tease Shinwon by calling him a ‘diva.’ He hates it, and you really can get under his skin with the nickname, but even he can’t deny how apt it is sometimes, and how much of a diva he really can be.
O ⇴ OBSESSION
He’s obsessed with your body, he often finds himself just staring at you in awe, but most of all he loves to hold you and find new sweet spots against your skin.
P ⇴ PDA
Whenever you’re in public, he’s always cautious of not making too big of a deal, but also not wanting there to be any distance between the two of you. Whilst he’s happy to make it known that the two of you are together, he’s not someone that will go too over the top, preferring to relax things and keep gestures subtle.
Q ⇴ QUESTIONS
He’ll often ask for your opinion on various things, especially when it comes to outfits and things that he should take on tour or for shoots. Although he knows he looks good, he loves to hear it come from you as well.
R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS
Shinwon will always make sure to wear the bracelet that you bought for him in amongst all of his other ones whenever he’s away from home, and you. You can always spot it during any broadcast or fan cam, and although to everyone else that’s watching him it just seems as if it’s another bracelet, to you, you know the importance of it, and just how much it means to you to see him wearing it, thinking of you.
S ⇴ SEX
The mood is often a great determiner in how intimacy goes for the two of you, sometimes Shinwon will love to dominate and prove to you that he’s the man, other times he’ll be happy to let you be the dominate one, especially if he’s had a rough day. The two of you often find yourselves in the bedroom after an argument as well, Shinwon’s temper definitely calms itself down that way, and leaves you happy too.
T ⇴ TEXTS
You’ll often receive texts when he’s out and about, tending to be pictures of things that he’s spotted that he wants your opinion on. A new shirt, or perhaps a menu for dinner, he’ll always send it to you immediately.
U ⇴ UNIVERSE
At times, he could be a bit of a complex person, and yet you understood exactly who he was with ease. Whilst others were often confused by him, you got it, each and every time, you knew exactly who Shinwon was.
V ⇴ VACATION
When the time came for the two of you to go away, Shinwon made sure to spoil you like you never had been before. Not only did he want to treat you to a holiday somewhere special, but he also wanted to use the time to say thank you to you for being there for him through so much and understanding how busy he was too.
W ⇴ WHINING
There were definitely times when Shinwon would be known to whine for your attention, if he was feeling needy, then he’d definitely let you know about it.
X ⇴ XXXXX
He loved to tease you the most when it came to kisses, winding you up and often leaving you wanting more, only to see him walking away. He couldn’t help but be playful when it came to kisses, pulling against your lip, or sucking gently against the nape of your neck, when he heard little hums come from your lip, Shinwon knew it was time to pull away, knowing that it wouldn’t take long before you’d chase him down.
Y ⇴ YOU
You were his reason to smile, he was just so unbelievably happy around you.
Z ⇴ ZZZ
Shinwon tended to sleep with his shirt off, which was something about him which you were silently a big fan of. He could tell though, by the way you fell asleep blushing most nights, that you enjoyed being able to touch.
hello hello! have another beating-the-deadline fic for May Trope Mayhem! the prompt for today is:
Day 14: Character has a Disability
which is like, kinda scary because i never want to unintentionally offend anyone with a disability, so i decided to just go with what im familiar with. i wear glasses and have a vision of 20/200, so just at the threshold of being legally blind, but my cousin's vision is like, 20/500 or something and she literally cannot see ANYTHING if she doesn't have her glasses on. as an added (pointless) challenge to myself, i typed this all out without my glasses lmaoooo and the typos were everywhere and im sitting way too close to the screen.
honestly, this didn't take too long to write. i think it's cuz it has no plot HAHA, which is my branding on this site i guess. but also maybe cuz shinwon is quite easy to write for
PAIRING: Ko Shinwon x reader. GENRE: fic, fluff, disability (poor eyesight). WARNINGS: none. WORD COUNT: 856.

Shinwon hears thudding from the other side of the door and stares, shoulders raised and ready to tackle someone if the door opens and you aren’t on the other side of it.
There’s a smacking sound from just beyond the door before your muffled voice calls out, “Shinwon? Is that you?”
He’s quiet for a moment, but replies all the same. “Yeah, it’s me! You all right in there?”
“‘M fine, just—,” you say, almost inaudible with the clacking of the locks so loud. The door finally opens and your head peeks out. “I broke my glasses and can’t see anything.”
“Aaahh,” Shinwon says, stepping forward and holding you by the shoulders as he passes the threshold, carefully guiding you back up to the wooden floors of the living area. Only when he’s sure you’re standing fine does he close the door and slip his shoes off. “Is that why you called me over?”
You nod. “Yeah, I can’t see anything right now, you’re just an orange blob with a black hat.”
Shinwon smiles with cheeks puffed out, knowing full well you can’t see it. “I’m not wearing a hat.”
“You’re not?!” you say, raising your hands tentatively. “You dyed your hair—when?”
Shinwon, used to you wanting to feel his hair, guides your palms to his dark brown locks. “Just yesterday. I was gonna surprise you with the new haircut, too, but you can’t really see right now, so that’s kind of a shame.”
“Aw man,” you say, messing up his hair to try to get a feel. The strands do feel shorter and his bangs no longer obstruct his eyes. “My glasses really had to break just when you got a new haircut.” You’re terribly near-sighted, vision well over what’s considered legally blind, and you even have a disability ID to prove it; the last time you went to get it checked, both eyes clocked at a whopping 20/400, and while it’s very inconvenient, you’re too terrified of getting laser surgery to correct your vision.
“Yeah, how’d they break anyway?” Shinwon asks, taking your hands from his hair and carefully steering you both towards the couch.
“I rolled over in bed and snapped it right in half. Like, my elbow landed right on the bridge and it just—,” you make a cracking noise and sigh. Shinwon guides you to sitting on the cushions as you pat around for an empty space. “I already called my optician and luckily my vision grade hasn’t changed much since my last check-up, so she said she’ll fit a pair for me I can get tomorrow.”
Your seeing-eye boyfriend hums. “M’kay,” he says, wrapping an arm around your shoulders. “I’ll stay over tonight and go with you to the clinic tomorrow. How’s that sound?”
You turn to him and squint. “Really? You don’t have a schedule tomorrow?” His wide shoulder goes up and down in a shrug, and from this distance you can almost clearly see his pretty eyes—if you want to actually look into them and stare, you’d have to touch your noses together, and while that would be nice, because kissing Shinwon is always nice, it’s too much of a hassle. It’s that time of the year again when you kind of regret not being fond of contact lenses, however convenient they are.
“Babe, I’ll skip all my schedules to be your seeing-eye human, okay?” Shinwon says, and you have to laugh. “Well, maybe not all of them, but some. And I am 90% free tomorrow, so I can definitely go glasses shopping with you.”
“Awww,” you say, winding your arms around his waist to hug him tight. “Thank you, babe. Always my knight in shining armor.”
He snorts, amused and way too besotted at your cute actions to care that you’re hitting his tickle spots just right, and just smooths a hand down your back, presses a soft kiss to the crown of your head. “I mean, it’s more of a knight with two working eyes, to be honest, since you’re better than me at everything.”
You scoff, burrowing your face further into his chest and his soft cream sweater. “Don’t say that. You make a mean sandwich,” you say, and he laughs. “And I haven’t eaten yet, so you can prove your honor, Sir Shinwon, and go make us some.”
Shinwon looks down at you, smiling and eyes squinted, but of course you can’t see, with your face buried in his chest. “You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that you just called me over so I can make you food.”
Your head lifts, a mischievous grin and sparkling eyes meeting him. “Was I that obvious?”
Your boyfriend groans. “Aaaahh, you’re too cute! Fine, I’ll go make us some food. Just ‘cause you’re so cute.”
A laugh erupts from you and you move to give him a quick kiss on the lips, missing by a bit and pecking the corner of his mouth instead. Shinwon hurriedly corrects your aim and gives you another, before standing up and giving you express instructions to not leave the couch while he goes off to hunt for sandwich ingredients.
A/N: I think we all know by now that this is one of my favorite tropes. So no surprise here. Also their performance got me so in my feelings that this happened.
Jinho:
His head rested on your chest and your fingers carded through his lightly. The tv playing as you absentmindedly watched. Jinho’s fingers toyed with the hem of your sweater, just fiddling the fabric around between his fingers. That was when he recognized the soft fleece lining on the inside that he loved so much.
Looking at you, he was now sure that you were wearing his sweater. “This is mine.” He said, tugging on the fabric and you hid your face in your sleeves. Trying to hold back your laughter as he pried your hands from your face. When he realised that wouldn’t work, he moved to tickle your sides and his adorable laughter filled the room.
“Little sweater thief.”
Hui/Huitaek:
Your arms wrapped around him from behind as Hui sat in his studio chair. He was playing a song for you he had been working on and you were just kissing his cheek and temple alternatingly. His hands found yours, slipping into the sleeves of the very familiar hoodie as they covered your hands.
Once he looked at the frayed edges of the old hoodie, he smiled knowingly. “Wearing my hoodie today?” He asked, voice only barely audible over the music. You nodded, moving your lips close to his ear. “I just missed you today.” You said softly and kissed his cheek again. He tugged you against him even tighter, stroking your hands with his.
“I missed you today too, dear.”
Hongseok:
(please he’s so cute)
Coming home to a house smelling like food cooking was something you loved. Especially when your were met with the back of Hongseok, cooking dinner for you both. You wrapped your arms around his waist, kissing the nape of his neck lightly.
“It smells good.” You complimented and he turned in your arms. His sparkly eyes locked with yours before examining your top. His sweater just seemed horribly inviting when you got ready for work that morning, you couldn’t resist. “That’s mine.” He said and you laughed. “I borrowed it today, does it look okay?” You asked blinking at him innocently.
“Of course it looks good on you. You look good in anything, but especially my clothes.”
Dawn/Hyojong:
The second he saw you he noticed you were wearing his hoodie. Hyojong liked fashion and always paid attention to what you wore, well because he liked it. But seeing you in his hoodie made his heart flutter a little. Especially seeing how the sleeves covered your hands as you hugged him.
“You look especially nice today.” He said in your ear softly, petting your hair. “I borrowed your hoodie, I hope you don’t mind. I should have asked, I’m sorry.” You said, a little bit of concern in your voice. He shook his head quickly, non verbally telling you not to apologize.
“No, it looks good on you like this. Don’t say sorry.”
Shinwon:
(he makes me chuckle okay)
You stood in the mirror, debating which top to wear and holding it out in front of you. Shinwon laid in the bed behind you, playing on his phone and trying not to stare at your bare torso. That was when you saw his sweater out of the corner of your eye. Pulling it on, Shinwon didn’t seem to notice.
Laying back in bed, you moved his phone from his hands. “Hey you.” You said softly and he smiled at you before realising what you were wearing. “Hey, you had 2 other choices to wear. Where did this come from?” He laughed and tugged at the knitted material. You shrugged, resting your head on his chest.
“Though I shouldn’t complain. At least you’re dressed.”
Yeo One/Changgu:
When you were upset, you just loved feeling warm and cozy in his hoodie. Especially when he couldn’t be around. But he had surprised you because you told him you were feeling down and showed up at your door almost instantly.
“I know you’re upset, but I am now here to cheer you up.” He said and a smile instantly graced your face. That was when he noticed his hoodie on your body, the sleeves swallowing your hands as you hugged him. It comforted Changgu that you took comfort in his clothes. “Thank you, Changgu.” You said burrying your face into his chest.
“And if my hoodies make you feel better, take them all. I don’t need them if they put a smile on your face.”
Yanan:
(he’s so incredibly handsome)
Taking off your jacket, you sat down next to him in the plane seat. You were flying with him to China for the first time and you wanted to be comfortable. His sweater seemed like the best choice. Yanan however only noticed once you settled down next to him.
He moved to rest his head on your shoulder and you pet his head lightly. “You’re wearing my sweater.” He said softly with a smile and you blushed a little. “Your clothes comfort me. So I wanted to be comfortable.” You said and kissed his forehead. He moved to lace his fingers yours as the flight attendants prepared for take off.
“I’m glad you feel so comfortable in my clothes.”
Yuto:
(this look. ThIS ONE RIGHT HERE)
Yuto watched as you brushed out your hair, only wearing his hoodie as you got ready for bed. However, he acted like he was still reading the book in his lap. However when you approached the bed, he closed his book and placed it on his nightstand.
You dove into his arms and kissed him sweetly, just wanting your goodnight cuddle before going to sleep. “You’re wearing my hoodie.” He commented, pecking your lips inbetween every word. “That’s correct.” You smiled and he rolled you onto your sides so he could cuddle you more.
“I love it when you wear my clothes.”
Kino/Hyungu:
He was so overwhelmed with practicing that he hadn’t noticed at all that you were completely cuddled up in his sweater. You were playing on your phone with one hand while your other toyed with the neck line of the sweater.
Hyunggu finally found a moment to join you, allowing himself to rest his head in your lap. “Is this mine?” He asked, catching his breath and looking up at you. “Yeah it is.”You said, putting your phone down and moving your fingers through his hair. He smiled up at you and kissed your palm.
“Good. I like it when you wear my clothes.”
Wooseok:
Movie night was complete when you pulled on his hoodie allowing it to cover you completely. You settled next to him on the couch, tossing your bare legs over his lap and covering both with a blanket. Wooseok leaned into you with a smile and ran his hands over your legs.
“Why do you always wear my clothes?” He asked as the movie started to play. “I don’t know. They just feel better than mine.”You said and grabbed a handfull of popcorn. He shook his head in response, leaning over to press a quick kiss on your lips.
Prince! Shinwon x Princess! Reader | royal kingdom AU
fluff | 3.8k words
synopsis: you were never big on parties, the loud music, dancing, unwanted attention from the hundreds of guests. they were simply not your thing. when you find yourself forced at yet another masquerade however, you meet a masked stranger who shows you that maybe you can find something enjoyable at these gatherings.
=====
The bells chimed loudly, its grand sound resonating in the vast halls to signal the start of the royal ball. The castle you stood in was located in a far away forest and you were told that it was one of the Ko family’s many properties. Though their name wasn’t the most popular of all time, you had to give kudos to them for being able to invite almost all of the royal families to the ball — on a Monday no less. Behind you, an endless number of masked people rushed into the spacious ballroom, excited to meet new people and maybe even find a special someone to take home with them. You too, as the eldest amongst your siblings, were tasked with the responsibility of searching for a possible candidate to marry and strengthen your family’s name, as per your father’s request. It was a grim responsibility as you weren’t really sure how you felt about having to chose someone that very night — you’d much rather meet them naturally, as opposed to the forced dances you’re bound to go through in the next few minutes. Taking one last glance at the mirror you stood in front of, you had to admit that you were stunning in your outfit nonetheless. The colours of the dress complimented your features perfectly and your hair was done to create a lavish charm to your appearance. You made a note to thank your maids for dressing you up so well. With a final adjustment to the sparkling mask resting on the bridge of your nose, you turned to enter the ballroom yourself.
You were instantly met with glaring lights from the chandeliers above, and laughter and chatter danced in the air from every direction. All around you were people of all ages dressed to the nines in almost every colour imaginable. It was a breathtaking sight and you had no idea where to start. There were so many people out there, how could possibly select just a single person out of the hundreds milling about? As you stood around in a daze you felt a tap on your shoulder and turned around to face a man dressed in royal blue bowing down to you. When he rose back up, you held back a small gasp, even with a mask on, you could tell he was extremely attractive.
“Feeling a little lost, princess?” His honey-like voice questioned. “You look beautiful tonight, I would be grateful if I was able to accompany you for the next few dances. You can call me Kino, by the way.” He finished with a hand reached out to yours, which were frozen in midair out of a mix of awe, confusion, and surprise. You really didn’t know how to respond to his advancements, it would’ve been so much easier to judge his intentions if you could’ve seen his entire face. At least, you would’ve felt a little more assured when it came to the dances and inevitable kisses later in the night as everyone got a little bit more tipsy.
Kino seemed to have noticed your hesitation and glanced up from his slightly bowed position to see you meekly staring back at him. “Not feeling up to it, my princess?”
“N-no, I’m sorry, I don’t think I’m really ready yet. But you look very handsome tonight, Kino, I’m sure it’ll be easy for you to find another partner.” You replied as you watched him stand up straight and dust off his outfit a little bit, showing no signs of embarrassment. You feared that he would’ve been upset about your rejection, but instead, he shot you a dazzling smile.
“Understandable, and thank you for the compliment. May you have a wonderful night.” And with that, he and his royal blue suit disappeared in a wave of people. Feeling a little fazed by that encounter, you made your way to the buffet tables as discreetly as possible. The smell of sweets filled your mind and you wandered towards the long table filled with almost every single dessert imaginable, and you happily found your favourite in a flash. You made a beeline towards and was just about to grab one when a hand slipped underneath yours and grabbed it right from you. Sure, there were almost hundreds of the same dessert laid out right in front of you, but you still looked up in shocked at the thief’s audacity to take the precious food from you.
The man in front of you had his orange dyed hair brushed back and was wearing a matching orange-toned suit. His plump lips smiled cheekily as he shoved the dessert into his mouth, all while staring straight back at you. You felt your eyebrows twitch as you stared back at him, appalled. He was the first to speak, and you were at most, grateful for that, because you weren’t sure what exactly you would’ve said to him if you had the opportunity to speak first.
“I’m sorry, were you planning on eating that?” He held his hand out after carelessly wiping it on his pants. “I go by Hui, though Lee Hwitaek might sound more familiar.” It did, the Lee family was a household name, especially when it came to riches.
“Well, Hui,” you started, putting your hands on your hips childishly, refusing to shake his hand. As high and mighty his family may have been, you were still going to give him a piece of your mind for stealing your beloved dessert. “That dessert was supposed to be mine until you stole it. How are you going to repay for that?”
Hui smirked and smoothly maneuvered around the table towards you, wrapping one arm around your hip as he pulled you closer. “How about I repay you with a dance or two? I promise you’ll have an amazing time and it’ll make up for my little mistake.” He whispered into your ear.
Your ears burned as you tried your best to remain polite when you pried his arm off your body and shimmied away from him. “I’m going to have to decline that offer, thank you very much.” And with that, you scurried away to another table, trying to find peace in the covers of the crowd.
Letting out a sight in relief, you leaned on the wall near you. Why does finding partner have to be so difficult? And how in the world am I supposed to do this all alone? You thought to yourself, looking at your empty hands disappointedly. I didn’t even get to eat some good food in peace.
The burning feeling of someone staring at you brought you out of your trance and you tilted your head up, making eye contact with a very tall man staring back at you, drink in hand. Is it just me, or is everything unsettling in this atmosphere? You shuddered to yourself as you once again, ran away, but this time to the gardens which you knew would be much quieter than the loud music that was being blasted to cover the entire hall.
You finally found solace in a little rock garden in the midst of some trees (though the definition of ‘little might be skewed, it was ‘little’ in comparison to the rest of the Ko’s massive gardens). Taking a seat on one of the benches, you looked back wistfully at the bright lights coming from the palace. As much as you wanted to have a good time, you couldn’t help but feel so alone and misunderstood in the unfamiliar environment.
“Is this seat taken?”
Oh god, here we go again.
You faced the unfamiliar voice, “I’m sorry, but if you’re looking for a dance partner, you’re not going to find one here...” you told him defeatedly, sinking your head into one of hands supporting it.
“O-oh, I was really just asking if I could sit here, but if you don’t want that, then that’s alright too, I can find another place.”
Genuinely surprised at his reaction, you took another glance at the person in front of you. He was dressed in all white, a red camellia propped in his chest pocket, and had a fluffy mullet falling down to his neck. His shoulders were noticeably quite broad and he looked manly, though his hunched, polite posture urged otherwise. You shifted in your seat for a moment as you considered you options, before finally shifting over to your side and patting the seat beside you.
“No, no one’s sitting here, you can go ahead.”
He shot a small smile at you and gratefully took the seat, stretching his long legs immediately afterwards. “This party is quite something huh?” He sighed. “I don’t know if it’s just a me thing, but I can never find the appeal of events like these. I’d much rather sit outside and watch the stars with some friends. Though, I’ll agree the food is probably worth it though.” He rambled quietly.
You didn’t plan on saying another word to him after the initial reaction, but his attitude towards the party intrigued you. If you were to solely judge based on his appearance, you would’ve thought he was some sort of player that enjoyed parties. His features would’ve definitely attracted a lot of people towards him.
“Is that so? I didn’t even get to try the food because of the commotion there.” You sulked childishly back. You were already so tired out from the party, but this stranger seemed to be feeling the same way, which was a nice change, and you felt a little more spirit enter your body.
His mouth curved into a small ‘O’ as he looked up at the sky, deep in thought. “The buffet tables will probably be clearer towards the end of the night, when everyone’s more focused on dancing, so you could try going then, if you’re up to it.” He speculated.
“I guess so, I’ll try again later then, and if it doesn’t work out, you know where to find me.” You chuckled.
“And maybe,” he added “I could accompany you there? People will probably avoid you if they see that you had me, er, a date already.” He put air quotations around the “date” and you examined him curiously, he looked a little shy from his offer and it was a little difficult to tell with the mask on, but he seemed sincere.
“I’ll take up on that offer, actually.” You decided, putting your hand out for a handshake. “I’m Y/n from the L/n family, may I know your name?” The mysterious man took your hand but simply shook his head. “How about we save that introduction for the mask reveal?” He smiled, and your heart melted at the sight. Though you really wanted to know his name, you knew you couldn’t force him to spill and just went along with it.
The two of you sat in the cool night talking about this and that, from what it’s like at your towns to the way the formal clothing made you feel constantly uncomfortable to ranting about your identical distaste for these balls. The chirps of the crickets and the hums of the cicadas accompanied your quiet conversations that were filled with laughter. You’ve never bonded with someone so easily in a setting like this, and you felt yourself falling for the masked man with every word he said. You talked until the moon shone brightly above the little rock garden and the bells chimed to signal that it was midnight — meaning that the final dances and mask reveals were happening very soon.
The man took notice of that and got up from the bench, stretching his tall body from the hours of sitting. “Shall we leave now, m’lady?” He turned to you, who was still seated, and offered a hand to help you up, which you gratefully took. Your hand lingered in his for a while once you were up, and a part of you wished that you could hold his hand for a little longer. Unfortunately, he was the one to let go first and began heading back towards the palace. With a quiet sigh, you followed behind him.
Wait... what am I sighing for? Am I actually falling for a man who hasn’t even told me his name? But at the same time, he understands me... and he’s undoubtedly very handsome. You shook your head, trying to sort out your thoughts in vain.
When the two of you returned the ballroom, you were met with the loud music once again and it was a disappointing contrast from the quiet of the garden. Clearly, the party was just as lively as it was when you left, if not, livelier. The man in white was right though, the buffet tables were quite empty as everyone was busy preparing for the final dance, and you spotted the last few servings of your favourite dessert sitting in a tray nearby. You gasped excitedly and rushed over to the food, unknowingly pulling the man with you by the arm. Upon arrival, you looked up to him and smiled brightly, “Would you like some? We can split what’s left in half.” You offered happily. All you got in response was a slight stutter with a nod and you saw his cheeks were tinted red, like the flower in his pocket. You looked down to see that your arm was still tightly hooked in his. Realizing your actions, you were quick to detach yourself from him. Soon, he wasn’t the only one who was blushing as you felt your cheeks burning in embarrassment.
“I’m so sorry about that, I have no idea what went on in my mind when I decided to —” You were cut off with the sweet dessert being plopped into your open mouth. Chewing slightly you looked up to see his familiar bight smile looking down at you, and you couldn’t help but return it with a little laugh. You felt an unusual sense of comfort from him as the two of you gladly finished up the last few pieces of the dessert. By then, almost everyone had already gathered to the centre of the ballroom, eagerly waiting for the music to begin. You felt a slight pang of jealousy in your stomach at the number of happy couples you saw. You wished you were able to enjoy these events the way they seem to, but you always ended up plagued with the feeling of unwelcomeness. As your eyes continued to scan the crowd, they locked onto a pair that was staring straight back at you. Taking a closer look at the person, you recognized the fluff or orange hair and immediately turned back to your masked friend.
Why is Hui staring at me again?? You frantically wondered to yourself. Do I look unpresentable? Is it because he’s going to ask me to dance with him again?
A white glove entered your vision, tilting your head back up to face that comforting smile once again. “Is everything alright, princess? Is there someone that’s bothering you?”
You blushed and looked back in Hui’s direction, head still resting lightly on his fingertips. The orange haired man was nowhere to be seen. “No, just people I may or may not be trying to avoid. I rejected a couple of dance requests before I met you.”
This time, it was his turn to look away. Rubbing his head sheepishly, his eyes moved back to you “Actually... I was going to ask you if you wanted to perhaps be my partner for the final dances. But from what I’m getting, you might not be interested in that, so I’ll gladly back down from that offer if that’s what you prefer.”
The blush never left your cheeks as you thought of your reply. “Well, if it’s with you, I think I’ll be up to it.” You answered, luckily sounding much more confident than how you felt on the inside.
He beamed at that, and swiftly grabbed your hands into his, pulling you into a less crowded section of the ballroom. He maneuvered between the dancing people bumping into him from left to right as if he’s done it many times before and it made you wonder just who this mysterious man really was. When you reached your destination he gently placed on hand on your hips and clasped the other into your hand.
“You know how to dance?”
“Well of course I do,” you shot back playfully, easily falling into position. “I’m a princess, it’s not like I can avoid the ballroom lessons, as much as probably would’ve liked to.”
He laughed at that and the two of you danced gracefully on the golden floors. You would’ve been lying if you said it didn’t feel nice to dance in your luxurious dress with such a handsome man. As if you two had met long ago, your moves matched each other perfectly with every step and spin you took. By the time the current song finished, you found yourself leaning slightly into his firm chest, smiling to yourself. The band quieted and the people around you began to whisper to each other in hushed tones as the Kings of each kingdom, your father included, gathered on one of the balconies, ready to make a statement. Cheers arose from the crowd as they looked down upon you guys and raised a glass of champagne.
“I would first like to thank you all for being able to make it to this lovely night. From the preparations to the actual partying, a lot of effort was put into making this night go wonderfully.” One of them, who you recognized to be head of the Ko family, said. Another round of loud cheers emerged from all around you.
“I’ll keep the speech short,” he continued, “because I know all of you are eager to get to the unmasking, and to finally see your partners face in all its glory.” You glanced up at the mysterious man at that, but he kept his eyes glued on the Kings, face set with a serious gaze.
“We will have one final dance after the unmasking, but please, feel free to stay longer, for the night is still young and does work really need to be done tomorrow?” He joked. “Music will continued to be played, food will continue to be served, and of course,” he raised his glass, “more booze will arrive to be drunk!” You thought the cheers couldn’t get any louder before, but the cheers that resonated in the ballroom at that statement proved you wrong.
“I will thank you one last time for attending this event, it means much to my family and I’m sure it means a lot to yours too. Why, some of you guys might have even met your future partners! And what a lovely thought that is. So now, we will begin the unmasking!” His voice boomed over the chatter of the dancers. Gasps were held back and even a scream or two could be heard from across the room as partners unmasked themselves one by one.
Nervously, you turned to face your own partner who once again, was only offering you a smile. “Would you like to take it off on a count of three, Y/n?” You nodded, and began to count.
“1... 2... 3...”
You closed your eyes as you slipped off your own sparkly mask and when you opened them again, your jaw almost fell to the ground. He was stunning, his features were all so perfect in your eyes and you almost couldn’t stop yourself from wanting to stare at him all night long. As your eyes scanned his face one more time, something clicked in your mind.
“You-you’re—“
He bowed deeply introducing himself. “I am Shinwon from the Ko family, it’s a pleasure to meet you tonight.”
You were at a loss of words from his reveal — you were dancing with the host’s son the entire time? You’ve heard many rumours of him before amongst the maids and townspeople who just loved to gossip about his beauty and popularity. But the masked man you met today was the complete opposite of what you’ve heard. Minus, of course, the beauty part. That, you were able to confirm was very true and his beauty probably surpassed the way it was described by others.
Shinwon rose from his bow and looked around nervously at your lack of response. “I’m sorry... was it wrong for me to want to hide who I was at the beginning? I just wanted to get to know you without having the burden of my status. It was really nice to have company that actually enjoyed me as who I was.”
You shook your head in denial. “No! It was just, it was just very surprising.” You replied sheepishly. “I would’ve never imagined that I would end up dancing and shoving desserts into my mouth with the King’s son of all people.”
The music began playing and you both naturally ended up swaying softly, hand in hand. “Tonight actually ended up becoming really fun,” you admitted. “And I don’t think anything has really changed, now that I know who you really are. Though, I guess it’s a little easier to address you.” You giggled.
Shinwon sighed in relief. “I am so glad to hear that. Do you know how worried I was about the reveal? At my own party, even.”
“Hm... you’re even more handsome without the mask, I can give you that.”
“And you look fascinating, with or without the mask.” He smiled and pulled the red camellia out from his pocket to rest it on your ear, decorating your hair. “But I think I prefer without the mask — I like seeing your eyes.”
The music grew louder and you held each other even tighter. “I know we’re already half way through the song, but are you alright with me taking this last dance?” He asked, a sliver of doubt still hinted in his voice.
“Yes, of course.” You squeezed his hand. “I don’t think I would’ve wanted to have this last dance with anyone else, but you.”
“That’s good to know.” And with that, he swooped down and softly placed his warm lips into yours. You returned the kiss, leaning further into him. It felt like everything around you had melted into a mix of colours. All you could focus on was the feeling of his lips on yours and his hands grasping you tightly. You would’ve kissed him forever if you could.
As you broke for air, you found a smile painted on both of your faces. “I hope this isn’t the last time we will see each other.” He said breathlessly.
“After all that just happened, plus the kiss? I think there’s going to be an issue if we don’t get to see each other again, Prince Shinwon.” You exaggerated his title jokingly.
“Then I’ll make sure to send another personal invite to you sometime soon, Princess Y/n.” He smirked back. “Do you know how happy I am to have found someone who dislikes these formalities just like me? You’re amazing, Y/n.”
“Says you, you looked like a sun amongst stars when I first saw you. It’s like you came to save me.”
“Well, you’re like the most beautiful flower I’ve ever seen. And I don’t plan on letting you go anytime soon.” He replied, pulling you closer to spin you around.
When you came to this party, you had no hopes or plans on finding a perfect partner the way you father wanted you to. Even though the party had an uneasy start, meeting Shinwon definitely turned things around for the better. And now, maybe you can find a bit more happiness in events like these, if it meant that you would have him by your side.
=====
i’ve honestly never been the biggest fan of kingdom AUs but for some reason the idea for this plot just came to me one night and i had to write it out.
A/N: I see Shinwon as someone who would head bang with you at a concert
Word count: 687
One of your favorite bands from your emo years was coming on tour in your city and you got tickets as soon as they went on sale, the only thing was, you didn’t have anyone lined up to take the second ticket and go with you. Your phone started to ring and you picked it up, looking at the screen flash Shinwon’s name across it as it buzzed his personal ringtone.
You answered the phone and Shinwon groaned loudly before you could say anything, you laughed “What’s wrong?” You asked and he groaned again “I’ve been SO BORED lately, do you want to do anything?” He asks and you ponder for a moment “Well, I actually just bought some concert tickets, will you-” “Yes” Shinwon replies before you even finish your sentence, making you laugh “You’re not even going to ask who it is or when it is?” You ask him and you can just feel him shaking his head on the other end of the phone “I don’t care, it’s a concert” He tells you, making you laugh again and smile “But is there anything we can do in the meantime? The concert isn’t today, right?” Shinwon somewhat whines as he was still bored at the current moment “Okay, I’ll be over in a sec” You told him before hanging up and heading over to his place.
The day of the concert came up and you got ready before leaving and picking up Shinwon from his place “Are you excited?” He asked, climbing into the passenger side of your car and buckling up. “Of course, I’ve always wanted to see them in concert but I was too young the last time they came, my mom wouldn’t let me go” You explain to him, pulling out of his driveway and heading towards the venue “But not that I’m an adult, I can do whatever I want!” You say, jumping a little in your seat and Shinwon laughs “As long as you have money, sure” He adds, making the both of you laugh now.
You get inside the venue and buy the merch you wanted before the show started so that everything wasn’t sold out by the time you went to buy it like it normally was by the end of the concert. Shinwon offered to hold everything you bought in his backpack and he gently placed everything is his bag. The show started and you scream bloody murder, almost crying at the fact you were finally going to see your favorite band in person. The opening bands come and go before the main performer, your favorite band and the reason you bought the tickets, comes out and you feel you’re about to vomit and faint at the same time when you see them on stage, coming to terms that these people are actually real and not some figment of your imagination. Towards the end of the concert they play your favorite song and you head bang to it, noticing Shinwon out the corner of your eye head banging along with you even though he’s never heard this band before.
The concert ends and everyone floods out of the venue, you and Shinwon slip away to take a breather and walk to a near by gas station for some water. “I can’t believe they’re real” You almost whisper mainly to yourself as Shinwon buys the water and hands one to you, he laughs and you two walk outside, drinking almost the entire bottle and sighing “I wanna go back, I can’t believe they’re real” You say again and Shinwon throws an arm over your shoulder “How did you like it?” You ask, looking up at him as you’re walking back to your car and notice his hair all ruffled up from the concert, absently reaching a hand up and smoothing it out some, you see him smile a little with some blush before retracting your hand and drinking the rest of your water “It was really fun, I’ll need to listen to more of their music, I like their style a lot” He says and you smile widely.
Shinwon’s voice as the door slammed against the wall as he threw it open made you jump. You turned your head to look at him, though your leg and a little bit of your body were through the window you were trying to escape from.
“Well...” you said quietly, looking at your captor, “this is awkward.”
“You do know that you can’t just escape, right?” Shinwon asked as you straddled the window, half of your body out of it with your right foot dangling four stories up. “The perimeter is secured so you physically cannot leave the property. Somebody would catch you, and you better hope it not be anybody but me.”
But you were a vampire, you could land that. And it was because you were a vampire that you were trying to escape. Shinwon was a vampire hunter, and you were currently his prisoner.
Ignoring this information because you felt a little dumb for not thinking of that, you replied with a question.
“Didn’t you read the sign?” you asked him, gesturing to the piece of paper you’d scribbled on and slid under the door for Shinwon to see if he came back before you could leave.
He sighed and bent to pick up the paper, “Did you really think writing ‘no boys allowed’ on a piece of paper would keep me out? Really? Just how stupid do you think I am?”
“I was hoping for very.”
Shinwon just sighed and shook his head curling his index finger to signal you to get back in the room, “Just get out of the window.”
“Make me.”
“Y’know, maybe it’s better you become someone else’s problem.”
Genre/warnings: woodland au, fantasy, fluff, very slight angst like you gotta squint to see it
Word count: 1,443
Summary: Whenever something gets lost in the woods, it goes right to Shinwon. The only people allowed to touch his things are the animals, and his friends. So when he comes back to find you, a plain human rummaging through his things, he’s less than happy. Although, the hummingbirds and deer seem to act differently toward you, so...
a/n: all of these were inspired by the concept photos for Pentagon’s new album, and @softseventeens was the one to give me the idea and actually gave me like, half the ideas for the stories :] (idk if y’all have seen that one Halloweentown movie, but yes, this was inspired by that angry troll dude who collected everything that got misplaced)
All you wanted was to find your sweatshirt. You’d tied it around your waist, and you didn’t realize it had fallen off during your jog until you were already off the trails and back in your car to go home. So you had to wait until the next day to go back and look for it, hoping it would be on the trail you’d jogged. But it wasn’t anywhere to be seen.
There was a small bright side to it, though: you were seeing more wildlife. More deer and even a couple hummingbirds had crossed your path, and you’d stop each time and just watch silently before you carried on looking. But after walking up the trail, back down it, and back up it again just to make sure you didn’t miss it, you sighed and rested on a large rock.
“Where is it?” you asked yourself softly.
The sweatshirt didn’t have any sentimental value or anything, you just owned it and wanted it back. It wasn’t like it belonged to a parent or friend, it wasn’t a gift from a grandparent, and it wasn’t anything expensive. It was just yours, and you wanted to find it because of that. Yeah, life would go on without it, but it was comfy and probably your most worn article of clothing.
While you were silently considering if you should just give up or not, your eyes flashed up when you saw slight movement out of the corner of your eye. There was a cute little doe that had taken a step toward you, though she was still a couple yards away from you. It was still the closest any of the animals had gotten to you today. You stayed as still as possible as she took another step. Then she turned away from you, but turned her head back as if to see if you were still there. She turned back around, and then whipped her head around as she spun around to face away from you again, taking a few steps before looking back at you once more.
You’d never seen or heard of a deer acting like this, so you stood up, assuming maybe she wanted something. You knew some animals had a concept of humans being able to help them, so maybe she needed help...?
Unbeknownst to you, she was trying to help you.
Slowly, you followed the doe as she trotted off into the forest, straying away from the path. You looked around, trying to remember your way as you followed the doe that continued to look to make sure you were following every so often.
You were led to a large tree that had a pretty impressive amount of items gathered up at the base of it. You figured your sweatshirt must be in the pile of things, and apparently, the doe was leading you to it. How did she know you needed to find something you lost...?
You felt a little odd thanking an animal, but you gave the doe a soft smile and a quiet, “thank you,” though you wished you had something to give her as a thanks.
She only blinked at you before she walked up to the pile of lost items and began pushing things around like she was looking for something, too. That was when you noticed a handful of hummingbirds were flying just above the pile of things, diving in and trying to move things around like they were even looking as well. So you got down on your knees, not caring if the dirt stained your pants. You began rummaging through the stuff, hoping you could find your sweatshirt you wanted.

If the rest of the boys weren’t so worried about Yanan being ‘too shy’, Shinwon could’ve just stayed home. It wasn’t that he was annoyed that he had to hang out with his friends for the day while they tried to boost the awkward, tall boy’s confidence, but he was annoyed that he had to be away from his home most of the day. It was mid-afternoon when could finally go home, but his day only seemed to get worse.
If there was one thing Shinwon didn’t like: it was humans going through his stuff. Everything that was lost in the forest went to Shinwon, thus, becoming Shinwon’s. So when a human showed up and began digging around, they were basically stealing from Shinwon.
Kind of like how he found you, along with a couple deer and about five hummingbirds, going through what was gathered outside his house from the last two days.
“Hey!” he barked.
You jumped at the sudden voice, along with the animals. The hummingbirds stayed in air, still flapping their wings but no longer going toward the mess of items on the forest floor. The two deer stayed frozen, the doe just staring back at this large, angry-looking guy, and the buck on the other side of you having articles of clothing hanging from his antlers. You expected the animals to bolt at the loud noise, but they didn’t seem afraid of him.
You, on the other hand, were definitely afraid. Not only did this guy look tall and very angry, but he looked like some kind of troll that must’ve lived out here. His brown pants were rolled up at his ankles, showing off the fact he had no shoes. His brown hair stuck out messily in all directions with twigs and various leaves sprinkled in. His face had the parts of his skin you could see were covered in patches of dirt, as well.
He marched over to you, and you shrunk back into the pile of things you were just looking through. He towered over you as you basically sat in the pile, trying to hide yourself in the discarded items.
“What do you think you’re doing?” he demanded, his brows set low over his eyes. “This is my house, and that’s my stuff!”
“I-I...” you stammered, unsure how exactly to explain yourself. You didn’t think he owned all of this, but if your sweatshirt was in here...he didn’t own that. “I just... I-I wanted to find my sweatshirt...”
“But you’re--!”
He cut himself off, seeing the two deer step toward you slowly. In his rage, he hardly paid any attention to the fact that these woodland creatures that were known for being scared and skittish were helping some random human. That was definitely a big deal. But why would they like you so much? What was it about you that made them not afraid of you and want to help you?
Whatever it was, it was something Shinwon couldn’t ignore. If the animals liked you, then...that was definitely something rare and special.
He let out a deep sigh, dropping his head as he grumbled, “Fine, I’ll help you look for it. When did you lose it?”
You were surprised by the sudden change, but you replied, “Y-yesterday...”
The boy nodded slowly, lifting his head. His brown eyes were narrowed as his eyes flickered from the stuff outside the tree, to the trunk of the tree itself.
“It might be inside,” he mused before he waved for you to follow him, though he started walking before you could even get yourself on your feet -- the buck was nice enough to assist you, though. “Come on, the door is this way.”
The strange boy led you around to the back of the tree, opening a door that you couldn’t even tell was there since it was textured like the trunk. Your mouth fell open in surprise, realizing that all of this was something out of some kind of fairy tale.
“Your little friends you made are probably hungry from helping you search,” he continued as he descended a set of uneven stairs that looked like they were made out of dirt and the roots of the tree. “I should probably feed them before we keep searching. And...I guess I can make you something, too.”
“Oh,” you were surprised he would offer, but you were still grateful he at least wasn’t scolding you anymore, “thank you, um...”
“Shinwon,” he paused on the last step to turn and look at you. His expression was neutral now. “You can call me Shinwon.”
“Shinwon,” you nodded, trying to remember the name and his face.
Then again, Shinwon didn’t seem like the type of person you could simply forget. And to Shinwon, he was sure he wasn’t going to forget you either, even after you’d found your sweatshirt and inevitably left.
The animals, though -- they knew this wouldn’t be the last time you and Shinwon crossed paths. They knew you’d come back to try to find him, and lost things in the forest always went right to Shinwon.
