Hunting Shiny Legendaries in the Dynamax Cave
Before Sword and Shield I never even bothered to try hunting for legendaries . Soft resetting is too much for me. The counts often go into the thousands easily. I just don’t have the patience. I don’t think most people do (serious kudos to those who do this, you’re the real MVP).
For the rest of us though, there’s the Dynamax cave. Legendaries, Mythics and Ultra Beasts are available within and you can do a different version of shiny hunting. Unfortunately I got pretty overexcited when Crown Tundra was first released and got two of my favorite Legendaries as non shinies. Oh well.
Once you’ve found a legendary you like you can fight it over and over again. It was only about 20 battles to get both my shiny Lunala and my Shiny Tapu Lele but it’s been well over 60 for Shiny Tapu Koko and nothing yet.
And there’s a consolation prize! As you continue through the Dynamax cave over and over again your shiny chances increase. That means that if you’re diligent enough you WILL eventually get a shiny Pokémon. The only drawback is that you don’t have any control over what Pokémon it is.
This shouldn’t be a deterrent though! Random shinies like my Mantine here can be some of the most exciting shinies because they’re unexpected. It’s very much like running into one in the wild.
Which shiny legendaries have you caught or are you chasing? Let me know in the comments!
