Shiogama Shrine, Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. This appears to be a giant ema/絵馬、which is commonly seen at Japanese shrines. They are typically much smaller, maybe about the size of one’s hand. Shiogama Shrine, Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. Shiogama is just a couple of stops away from Matsushima. Matsushima is one of the more famous places in Japan, so it can get quite crowded.
