𖡼 Nellie and Ruggie's first interaction was a few weeks prior to Book 2. She had fallen asleep in the field one day after finding a dandelion patch.

Ruggie happened to come across this sleepy gal, and despite being a bit annoyed at her being in the way, he mostly thought it was funny and figured it'd be fun to be annoying.

He put some dandelions and leaves in her hair, seeing how many he could put in before she wakes up. When she did wake up, however, she wasn't upset at all, to his disappointment.

If anything she was confused, but was too sleepy to say anything and simply stared. He greeted her with a cheeky grin and sarcastic comment about sleeping in, before walking away to continue picking his snacks. 𖡼

Dandelovers' Dynamic! 𖡼.𖤣𖥧𖡼.𖤣𖥧

♡: Ruggie and Nellie's dynamic relationship-wise is lighthearted and loving. Nellie is very lovey-dovey, and Ruggie's prone to flirt. They have no trouble being a cheesy couple, and aren't afraid of being touchy and affectionate! (Even if Ruggie gets embarrassed sometimes, lol).

𖡼. Before they dated, Nellie was shy around him, but was still kind around him, often helping and talking to him. It took a while for Ruggie to get over suspicion and warm up to her, but over time grew to enjoy her company, even if she was a bit shy. He taught her how to fish!

"What were their first impressions of each other? What do they like about each other?"

Nellie thought he was weird, but also a bit cute. She liked his laugh and his dexterity. Ruggie thought she was a bit airheaded, but thought that was a bit charming. He likes her strength (mental&physical) and her eyes.

"When do they date in canon? Who confesses first, and how?"

They do not date until well after Book 7! Nellie is the one who confesses first way back in Book 5 during the VDC. Unfortunately, he turns her down, before later realizing his feelings in Book 7.

"What are their love languages?"

Nellie's love language is Physical Touch, and Ruggie's is Acts of Service! Nellie loves giving him affection, and he loves being helpful to her and letting her know he's got her back! They also do Gift Giving when they can.

I'm going to into this one differently.

In a universe where Cal actually saved that little girl and took her in. He hires Miranda as her nanny, and somewhere along the way he falls for her.

"Evelyn, dear," Cal says from the doorway, his daughter is sat on the floor with Mira, playing with her dolls, "I was wondering if I might borrow Nanny for a moment."

"Mr. Hockley, you're acutely aware of my name and I suggest you use it," She glares over her shoulder at him with a teasing lilt to her voice.

He chuckles to himself and Evelyn pouts at him, "But Papa!"

There's still an Irish lilt to her voice he suspects she'll never outgrow. The ghost of a life she might have had if events hadn't played out in the way they did.

"Now sweetpea," He tuts, gathering her in his arms, "I only need Nanny for a few short minutes, then you can have her all to yourself again."

"Fine," She huffs, pout dissipating when he presses a kiss to her cheek before setting her down.

"Miranda, please?"

She stands up and follows him out of the room, glancing back at Evie before closing the door.

"Yes, mister Hockley?" Her hands clasped behind her back.

He almost seems embarrassed, lifting one end of the undone bow tie hanging around his neck.

"I seem to be struggling," he admits, "Care to give me a hand?"

She gives him a small nod, reaching up to tie it for him.

He tries not to stare, to keep his gaze at the ceiling, but it drifts back down to her face.

Her brow furrowed in concentration, cheeks looking incredibly soft.

There's a tension between them, flirtatious words leading to stolen tender and intimate moments like this.

She makes him nervous, makes him smile, fills his head with warm thoughts.

As she makes sure the tie is secured properly and straight, his hand raises up, catching her chin and tilting it up to his face.

He places the softest kiss to her lips and pulls away. She blinks in surprise, voice soft to match the way she's looking at him.

"Is there anything you need, Mr. Hockley?"

"No Miranda," His breath fans across her face, fingers still warm beneath her chin, "That should be all."

She takes a step back, giving him a small nod and starting back for Evelyn's room.

"Miranda," He catches her wrist, freezing when she turns to look at him.

"Yes, Mr. Hockley?"

"I..." He flounders, not even sure of what he was going to say. He clears his voice, trying to avoid her expectant look, "Never mind."

He lets her go and watches her walk away, emotions swirling inside him.
