Ok I need some Spiri shippers to come in hear and discuss this with me

I know that there is a lot of contrversy and contradiction around how people see Spiders realtionship with Kiri (and I'm talking about the people who like Spider, fuck the haters)

I personally can personally see it both ways, but I do like the Spiri ship

However someone brought it to my attention a while ago that even if James Cameron was going to ship these characters, there is a vast difference in age between the two actors. And yeah I do relinquish to the fact that that might not be comfortable for either actors

But what do you guys think?

I'm pretty sure Jack Champion is an adult and they might be able to do a double for Kiri

But idk, if we want to pretend that Spiri is canon whilst also taking into account the fact that the actors have such a vast age difference, what would you prepose be done?

(I would also like to state that I know actors of significant age gaps have and will be in relationships in media but since Jack is closer to being a minor than he is Sigourney's age I'm putting this question out there)

Bill Watkins- son of a well known Army Major

Becky Blackbell- daughter of a weapon's manufactoring empire

A match made in Heaven.

What made you ship it?

Endo made the curious choice to make Becky one of the most openly feminine characters and Bill the most openly masculine characters.

But they don't have their traditional flaws. OR strengths.

Becky loves LOVE (the concept), fashion, boy-talk and got a pink tank as a gift. She's a girl's girl with unabashed passion.

But her early flaw is that her confidence and independence kept her a loner- she had no friends until Anya. Male characters are usually the ones to be saddled with the "Unfriendly" trait. Becky has it off the bat in the story and grows to take Anya in as a best friend. Bill is extremely athletic, has high marks in math and has leadership qualities. He's the guy you'd look up to in the gym as a sign of 'strength'. Bill's social interactions are stiff and awkward with the Cecil Hall group. It comes off as scripted and shy to me. He is not a confident person in regards to social conduct.

THE BUS ARC (and why it really made me happy)

In the Bus Arc- BECKY is the one to send out the tactical MAYDAY signal. Not "Military Son" Bill.

Becky uses logic and analyzes the situation with a level head.

Bill is the one to emotionally support the students during the hijacking. He keeps a level head for his peers and lessens their anxiety. It is not a girl who does the emotional lifting for the other students during this arc.

And they are both rewarded for it!

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I think the size difference is one of the best things about this ship. Becky needs (and wants!) to be swept off her feet. That and I believe Bill would turn to Becky for the social cues when they grow older, as she has more social aptitude.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't know if it would be considered unpopular, but I don't think Bill would make the first move unprompted. He'd wait until there was some sort of enthusiastic consent before attempted to woo Becky.

Is there a particular "trope" for relationships that you especially enjoy - e.g. enemies to lovers etc - and is this something that you set out intending to explore?

What makes a scene or situation "romantic" in your opinion? Is this something you find easy to portray?

I'm not exactly sure what counts as a trope or not, but having done some research... I'm still not completely clear. From the ones I've found here I quite like Friends to Lovers? Secret Romance is one that sounds interesting? And apparently Dude In Distress is one? I don't think Unexpected Baby would work for me though...

I’ve gotta know. And i know it’s gonna be painful. But what’s Bennett’s reaction the first time Flash comes home and he’s hurt really really bad?

What’s Flash’s reaction if he gets a call Bennett’s been hurt but he’s still on base? Bc Bennett kinda feels like that guy on my old jobsite that didn’t tell me he got hurt and drove himself to the ER.

I literally made an actual oof sound when I started reading this

Bennett is really good at keeping his shit together in front of other people. He's the type of guy to bottle everything up in the hopes that one day, he'll die.

So when Flash comes home and is just moving weakly, he's got a broken leg, and his face is all bruised, Bennett has the hardest time keeping it together. But he does for the first couple hours because that's what Cole needs: Cole needs him to be strong long enough for him to get comfortable in bed, take his pain meds, and sleep.

Which is why when Cole is finally asleep, Bennett closes the bedroom door and sits on the couch. He comes really close to full on sobbing, but he does cry a bit because "holy shit I almost lost him. I could have lost him and I wouldn't know until someone came knocking on my door, but he's here now and he's alive and he's okay." It takes a lot of effort for Bennett to go back into the bedroom, but he does when Flash kind of wakes up a bit and he's not there so he calls for him.

Bennett turns into the clingiest boyfriend for a good two months while Flash recovers. Which Cole doesn't mind of course, he likes the attention

As for if Flash gets a call about Bennett having been hurt, that's a different story. And yes, you're right. Bennett is definitely the type of guy to not say he's been hurt but then drive himself to the ER

Its actually what leads to their first real fight as a couple. Flash is so pissed off that Bennett didn't tell anyone, didn't calm him right after it happened, didn't call him period and the only reason Flash knows is because Bennett made the mistake of putting him down as his emergency contact.

Flash is mad, and rightfully so. He tells Bennett every time he gets injured, even if it's just "I fell down the stairs on base today. I'm fine but I did get laughed at" or even "I have a wicked bruise where I slammed into the corner of a table today."

So for Bennett to not say anything about an injury serious enough he needed the ER, Flash is royally pissed off.

Flash tries to not have the argument over the phone, so for the couple of days he still has to be on base before he's cleared to go back home, Flash is in the worst mood possible. This is the angriest anyone has ever seen Flash, so it's clear it's a big deal.
