I touched a bit on this in my reply to your post, and I’ve expressed it in the past before, but I don’t feel like I can’t say it enough, because it never seems to stop, so let me say this right now (read more here for a long all-caps shipping-related rant with one f-bomb following below):

IF YOUR SHIP IS NEVER EXPLICITLY STATED TO BE CANON, YOU SHOULD NOT FORCE IT ON OTHERS AS ‘CANON.’ EVEN IF A SHIP BECOMES CANON, DON’T HATE ON PEOPLE FOR NOT SHIPPING IT AND/OR SHIPPING SOMETHING ELSE.

I DON’T CARE IF:-YOUR SHIP IS POPULAR IN THE FANDOM

-THERE’S PLENTY OF EVIDENCE SUPPORTING YOUR SHIP IN THE GAME-YOUR SHIP IS POPULAR IN THE FANDOM-THEIR CONVERSATIONS ARE “TOTALLY SUGGESTIVE THAT THEY HAVE A THING FOR EACH OTHER” ACCORDING TO YOU-YOUR SHIP IS POPULAR IN THE FANDOM

-YOU VOCALLY REFUSE TO SHIP ANYTHING ELSE JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN’T STAND PEOPLE SHIPPING THOSE CHARACTERS WITH OTHERS THAT AREN’T YOUR OTP

-YOUR. SHIP. IS. FUCKING. POPULAR. IN. THE. FANDOM.

It DOES NOT make you a special snowflake, nor does it make your ship a special snowflake either, and that doesn’t give you a free pass to force ships on others. Ship hate is one thing, but that sort of behavior is ABSOLUTELY REPULSIVE, and you’re only making the reputation of your fandom worse. You may be in the vocal minority, but you’re in the VERY VERY vocal minority, and it ruins things for everyone.
