For your ask game! :) I'm thinking 🧩 🌹and 🧸 for Michael/Lace
And 🔥 🌪 ☕️ for Cass and Lucanis
OKAY, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING QUESTIONS FOR BOTH. I NEEDED A REASON TO SPEND AN HOUR ON TUMBLR RAMBLING /LH. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE QUESTIONS @tkwritesdumbassassins, I HOPE YOU ENJOY
So for Michael/Lace:
🧩 (What tiny habit do they unbearably adorable?) So it was easier to find the thing Michael finds unbearably adorable about Lace, but I had to think about cute things Michael does you can find adorable/endearing because he's not really the type. Then remembered that it's Lace we're talking about and that's part of the charm.
Michael finds Lace's gardening and her fascination with all plants to be unbearably adorable. He'll watch her and listen with the sweetest smile as she explains plants and properties that he won't understand despite trying. Everything about how excited she gets and how patient she is with him as she does it is endearing to him.
Lace's is a fun one. I'm spilling one of Michael's dirty little secrets here, but he sticks his tongue out a little if he's concentrating and not paying attention. It's a little blep, but Lace finds it so adorable that she cannot help but smile. It becomes more common as he gets more comfortable with the Veilguard (because he isn't forcing full concentration on them for fear of being hurt), and she loves it.
🌹 (Who fell harder & who fell first?) Okay, so this story is actually hilarious and I've been meaning to tell it for like a month? Whatever, we're here now.
So they had little feelings before, but like actually falling for each other, it happened at the same time for two absolutely different reasons. So for context, this is the Battle at Weisshaupt. Michael brought Lace and Davrin with him. And in what has to be the most cliché moment of their entire relationship timeline, he falls in love with her during a fight. They're fighting off hoards of them and Lace spots a Warden that's still alive, barely but still alive. She tries to get to them, despite Michael yelling that the Warden's too injured for them to rescue, creating a path of destruction in her wake that has him completely awestruck. Like Davrin had to remind them that they were in the middle of a battle kinda starstruck. He then went over and started helping her. That was her moment. He was covered in monster goo and furious about her "throwing herself toward death", but he was still helping her save someone that he thought wasn't gonna make it. It was his compassion, that selfless compassion that she had seen hints of since they started working together but he had forced into a box so small he barely recognized it anymore, coming through to save someone he didn't know.
Now with that being said, it cannot be said that they both fell to the same degree. Michael got hit by a fucking truck while Lace got hit in a manageable way. Michael hasn't allowed feelings like that since his fiancé died, he didn't want those feelings. So while being the one that got hit by the metaphorical truck, he still has a ways to go before he's able to properly deal with those feelings. Lace is just waiting patiently, because he's about as subtle as a heart attack.
🧸 (Who still has the very first gift the other ever gave them?) So the answer is a little surprising only in the context that Michael isn't the sentimental type.
Michael lost his compass about a month before the events of Veilguard. Lace gave him a compass to borrow because he lost his. He was gonna buy a new one when things started to calm down and she assured him it wasn't the only one she had so he didn't have to stress about giving it back, but things never "calmed down". He kept finding excuses to avoid buying a new one until it got brought up during a mission. Neve asked where he got it because it was very cute and he said Harding gave it to him. Lace pipes up with "yeah, and he's gotta keep it now because I wouldn't know what to do with having it again". Teasing him of course, but it shut him right up for the rest of the night. He taped (the Dragon Age equivalent of taped) a picture of Harding to the inside top of the compass after that day.
Now for Cassie/Lucanis:
🔥 (What's the pettiest thing they've ever argued about?) They argued about the color of water. I'm not even joking, they had an hour long argument that ended in Emmrich getting involved. (To be fair to them, they were thinking about two different bodies of water and one of them was in fact straight up blue. We don't tell them that though because it's funnier that they still think that the other doesn't know what color water is.)
🌪️ (What's the most chaotic thing they've done together on pure impulse?) Someone bet them that they couldn't break into the Palace in the Grand Necropolis and leave a note saying they were there (not with their actual names obviously). So they did that and before leaving, based purely on the impulse that the place was too drab, they pulled the curtains down from the entire floor of the palace and made a very nice fort out of them in the middle of the dining hall.
☕️ (Who's the morning person & how do they lure the night owl out of bed?) So this is all Post-Inner Demons because they both don't sleep much before then. Cassie is the early riser. Lucanis likes to sleep in, since he has the ability to sleep as long as he'd like and he stays up way too late, so Cassie has to coax him out of bed with coffee and his favorite breakfast food. I think I have a snippet somewhere from the first time Lucanis is able to sleep through the night, that should be my WIP post later XD
