CUSAT, Cochin Shipyard Join Hands to Launch Shipbuilding Tech Centre
The Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) and Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Shipbuilding Technology at the university campus.
According to university officials, CSL will provide Rs 3.53 crore for setting up the centre. The initiative is aimed at bridging the gap between the shipbuilding industry and academia, with a focus on software development, skill enhancement, upskilling, and digitisation in marine technology.
CUSAT highlighted that the Centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art computing facilities and advanced marine software to support research in Naval Architecture, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and related domains. The collaboration is expected to promote innovation in ship design, sustainable shipbuilding, and advanced ship analysis.
