Why am I here? Because what you write burns holes in what is Known and what is Suspected. Because the truths and the lies you put together with What Happened, What Might Have Happened, and What People Think Happened amuse and teach me. Because there are lessons in what you learn, and there are insights to be gained. And... less pretentiously, it's good to see someone else getting knocked around by what's Over There. I am not alone in getting the tar kicked out of me by Things.
I don’t so much burn holes as I do point them out. It’s like being told the veil over the icon was bestowed to the church hundreds of years ago so you never look down at the hem because you never had need to. And then one day, you do look down and there is a tag with “100% Rayon” printed on it machine stitched into the fabric. Does it really matter what fabric is covering that icon? To the general public, probably not. But now you wonder, if this isn’t as described, what else is there? Maybe the original fabric is getting restored. Maybe it was destroyed and to protect the faith it was substituted without notice. Maybe there never was a fabric over the icon and the bishop placed it there to add some mystery for the paying tourists to Instagram. But in the end, the why is irrelevant. Now knowing it is there, is.
I doubted a lot of my spiritual experiences for decades because what hit me in the face was not matching what the People In Charge were telling me should hit me in the face (if at all). My writings are not canon for anyone, including myself, because I do write blinds in. But if they trigger a Moment of Introspection in someone else, then they have done their job. I don’t expect anyone to have identical experiences to mine (though enough have close enough to give me the willies). Mystery Cult of One and all that isolationist shit.
I’m not sure why I write anymore. Just glad it’s helping folks out, I suppose. ~gives the side audience severe stinkeye~
The asswhippings, oh the asswhippings! We could play bingo with all the different ways I’ve had my ego stamped “Return To Sender”. The majority of them I did legitimately earn. And I have to give it to the power over yonder, they sometimes get ingeniously creative in how they tell me to fuck off. XD
(I still try to get the last word in, though. “Could you not?”)
Deity of fandom-based artistic expression and justice. :)
excellent, i accept
Dear Aunt Jilli: have you ever had trouble finding nice goth things in your size and what did you do about it? I'm a very small transboy [5'3" and 125] and finding gothy menswear is a nightmare!
I learned to sew well enough to alter things. My usual trick is to buy clothing that’s a size too large, then tailor it down to fit me. I’m a plump hourglass AND I’m short-waisted. Finding off-the-rack things that fit me is ridiculously difficult.
For you -- look into formalwear designed for teen boys. You should be able to find black blazers, shirts, and trousers that will be more in keeping with your measurements, and then you can customize them with different buttons, patches, or stencils.
tbh there are conditions that cismales experience that include breast growth. And? it's normal?? so like... how is this transphobic? i'm sorry you're dealing with this.
Yeah, gynecomastia. And they all get made fun of too for having it so how is this much better?? It’s not even that damaging physically usually aside from emotionally for them. Plus, it can be an intersex thing, which it is for our character Lucky, but he still goes by male pronouns.
you rule you're fantastic that post was perfect.
lol thank you, i just sat there and thought about it, because it seems a great idea, but knowing what we do know of the each of the characters and how they were AFTER the first movie (even the little we saw of Lex and Tim) did not lend me to believe they would even want to go back, you know?
Each of them saw deaths and experienced severe trauma either emotional or physical (and occasionally both). Even Hammond –who did decided to send people in for research–did not want a theme park anymore knowing it was a bad idea and worried what the InGen takeover would result in.
Everyone else we KNOW didn’t want anything else to do with it. Ellie withdrew, Grant never spoke about it at ALL like he was trying to forget and living like the only real dinosaurs were the dead ones whose bones he dug up. But remember the raptor resonant chamber his younger counterpart made? Remember how disturbed he was at the sound of it, like it brought back the memories of his days on the island trying to get away? He may have used it smartly to his advantage and he was curious about it, but there is no doubt Grant was disturbed by it. Malcom, instead of shutting up actively spoke against it and what InGen was doing despite the fact that people were laughing at him for it.
So knowing all that, and the little scene we got with them and Malcom, just leads me to believe that it is very unlikely they’d want to actively work WITH InGen and be anywhere near excited about running a theme park even for other’s safety--because they KNOW working with dinosaurs is not safe.
shiporsink, I’d just like to state for the record that I responded to that particular godspousery post bc it was the one that appeared on my dash and I had a reaction to it. I don’t tend to read through tags except very specific ones [basically I track some rarepairs & one or two god-specific tags] so I didn’t see your other posts on the topic, just that one. I just had a v brief scroll through [I badly need to go to bed rn] and saw that there’s a lot of other posts so I appreciate probably a lot of nuance got lost in the particular one I was replying to.
I could probably have stood to assume more good faith than I did in replying to that post, it rubbed me up the wrong way for reasons I stand by, but I appreciate the motivations & arguments etc behind the post. We probably disagree on some things here but I think we agree on others, and I hope we can at least respect one another?
[I’m sorry if this is a little incoherent. I’m literally about to go to bed so not at my best, sorry. basically what I’m trying to say is I don’t like hate you or think you’re a terrible person or anything.]
