I was thinking of @dayseternal-blog 's fic "Last Chance", how the only reason I know about Para-para is because of this anime:
First ep was in one of my Newtype mags in 2003.
Then I thought about the relationship dynamics in this shoujo anime, in relation to Naruto characters.
These two, Ran & Tatsuki... To me they're pretty much Naruko and Naruto, I'm not lying. I couldn't ship them, but they were official. Ran is a hothead, cannot study, has a delinquent/jock personality. Tatsuki makes her laugh, and he is a goofy guy, the end.
Rei Otohata (Oto"hot"ta, lol), and Aya = SasuHina.
Aya was a stressed out high-achiever who turned to Enjo-Kosai (paid dating between High school girls and men), then Ran saved her from that life and showed her there's ways to be a Gyaru on the cheap, also that she can just have fun with her and Miyu. She is a Mature Gyaru type, soft-spoken and down to earth. Rei comes off as pompous and uber serious, but he really doesn't care about superficial stuff, like how he's the number one hottest teen in Shibuya or Tokyo, or something lol. (Do they still run these popularity contests? I can't believe you can/could become a local celebrity as a high schooler, lol.)
Yamato, cop and Ran's older bro. He's an uber responsible stick in the mud type. Miyu, Ran's bestie and reformed actual delinquent turned lovey-dovey, shall I say, borderline Burikko Genki girl. This dynamic best matches... This going to be weird, bear with me: IrukaSakura, primarily Sakura at her most fawning, which was early Part One.
Okay! That concludes SuperGALS! comparisons!
I just started rewatching Outlaw Star, not enough to say for sure, but I think Gene and Melfina have a similar dynamic to NaruHina. ♥️💙🧡💜 JUST LOOK AT THESE BABBIES!!!
