Smiles, jokes and laughter
Lately things had been different, they had eaten lunch and dinner together everyday this past week. They even met for breakfast before work two times. Tony felt himself looking forward to the next meal they would share together; the smiles, the jokes, the laughter, but also the serious talks that slipped in between those smiles and laughter. They would start as a joke, only to turn into a talk about the future or reliving memories of the past.
Last night they had dinner till 10:30 pm only to go home and go to bed, to meet at 7:15 am for breakfast. They had grabbed some lunch on the way back from the crime scene, McGee had joined them and even though he didn't mind McGee joining he still felt disappointed for some reason. During lunch he realized that there were less smiles, less jokes and less laughter. Or maybe it was just different smiles, jokes and laughter, he didn't want different.
"Time to go home, we'll start tomorrow morning again." Gibbs said getting up from behind his computer, but instead of listening to himself he went up the stairs to either MTAC or Vance,
McGee was still downstairs with Abby going through the computer of their victim so Tony took a quick look around. What was the first thing that could happen right. "Ziva, you want to go grab some dinner?" Tony asked walking towards her desk where she was still logging of from her computer.
For a moment Ziva looked up confused, they had been eating together all week she had just assumed today wouldn't be any different. "Yes, how about our usual Chinese place?" Ziva asked.
Tony shook his head a little, thinking back to what he had said. "I was thinking that little french place on M street?"
Ziva thought for a moment, that was one of the best french restaurants in the city and a bit pricy. "Yeah sure, McGee said that Delilah was working late tonight, maybe we should ask him to join us and Abby too?" Ziva answered standing up from her chair planning to go down to Abby to ask them, but Tony's hand on her arm stopped her. He was leaning against her desk and she turned to him, she was now standing in between his legs, but she didn't notice because his face showed a combination between concentration and pensiveness.
"Maybe we can just go together?" He said softly, a tiny smile one his face.
Ziva looked at him, she cocked her head to the side. Trying to understand what he was getting at. She found her answer in his eyes, a smile broke out on her face. "You can ask." She said softly bumping her leg against his.
Tony tiny smile changed into a full grin, confidence bubbling inside him as he saw Ziva's eyes sparkle with joy at him. "Ziva David, will you go out on a date with me?"
"Yes." Ziva said and Tony was surprised to see her duck her head a shy smile on her face. A moment later she grabbed her stuff and was ready to go, but Tony was still a bit dazed. "Come on lets go."
"Coming." Tony responded spinning away from her desk and picking up his own backpack. Together they walked towards the elevator that opened for them the moment Ziva pressed the button. They turned around when they entered the elevator. Tony reached before her to press the ground level button. When he stepped back their shoulders and arms touched.
"Pick you up in an hour?" Tony asked the back of his hand bumping into hers.
"Sounds good." Ziva responded their hands slowly moving around each other till they could clasp their hands together and interlace their fingers. Tony looked at he for a moment; Some serious conversation together with; smiles, jokes and laughter. Was defiantly in his future.
