Are you brave enough to say goodbye, and ready to say a new hello in your life?
Sitting on my hospitel (Hospital + Hotel) bed (waiting for my Optha Doctor, alone and contemplating with my life and relationships with people and most of all God. I remembered this phrase from someone (not sure if I read it in a book or heard it in a preaching or some sort) “If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello”. Life as we all know has a season, like waves of ups and downs, or chapters. All has a reason and purpose why you have to go through the season.
There will be season/s of saying goodbye either a happy goodbye or sad goodbye, either to a person or a situation.
If you are brave enough to say goodbye - will we ever be brave enough to say goodbye? especially when we love the person or we already identify ourselves to the situation we are in? I think yes.
1. Saying Goodbye with wrong motivation.
We can bravely say goodbye, and sometimes are goodbyes are as discreet as “silent treatment” or withdrawal from the person. That’s an easy one, once hurt - run away. It’s like I love you but I’m scared to let you go but I’m letting you go because I don’t want to be abandoned by you. The sad part is the bravery was not out of goodness of the heart but out of selfishness not to be hurt so let me just walk away.
2. Saying Goodbye for Freedom.
People that were once abuse are itching to say goodbye to the abuser or the abusing situation. They long for freedom, to be set free from pain and torment. And knowing you are abused is a form of acceptance, and saying no more is a form of bravery. You can stop it from happening again, say goodbye to that abuse and live freely, yes you can! find a person you can trust and know can help you step away from the situation.
3. Saying Goodbye for a season but not a lifetime.
People come and go, and people change. People will always find something new to do or new people to click with, or new relationship to go gaga over or new something to be fascinated and get busy with. But, as you say goodbye with the person for certain season it doesn’t mean it’s for a lifetime disconnection. I always believed in “God appointed people” in your and mine life will always last forever, it will not be constant present but it will be there in and out of season, the binding glue is not whether you like each other but it is Jesus that binds the friendship or relationship, that no matter how many miles you are apart you will always have that special connection with each other.
BE READY TO A NEW HELLO!
As you say goodbye to old habits look forward to the new ones, if before you are lazy and undisciplined eater, now say hello to a healthier you, make a choice to let go of the past habits and cultivate the new one. Be ready for new relationship. It’s not just romantic relationship, spiritual relationship, brand new friendship, deeper friendship, and all other new ships and hoods that will arise. Do not let your past relationship hurts and pains be carried to the new ones you have right now, as much as possible make every effort not to bring your garbages from the past to your present and most of all to your future, it’s not worth it! You can carry the lessons but not the torment so you will be able to consciously save the relationships you have now and have a better version of ships and hoods, and most important a better version of you.
