Domaine Teralto & Chapoutier Shiraz Viognier - 2010 - 92 Points - James ...
New Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ wines released for F.O.O.D Week
The 2012 Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Shiraz Viognier ($24) and 2012 Angullong ‘Fossil Hill’ Tempranillo ($24) have been released in time for Orange F.O.O.D Week, with a number of events planned for the winery.
The 2012 vintage in Orange was a difficult one, with rain the cause of most issues. The vineyard of Angullong sits on the southern side of Orange’s Mount Canobolas at an elevation of 620 metres. Subsequently the grapes tend to ripen earlier than some of the higher vineyards, with Angullong less affected by this rain.
“Vineyard management was crucial during 2012,” commented Angullong’s Ben Crossing. “We had modest yields, however there was good ripeness and flavour profiles.”
Yering Station, Carr C Block Vineyard 2006
It's been a while since I posted, letting my New Years resolution's slip as usual. Yering Station is one of the biggest wineries hailing from Victoria's Yarra Valley. A joint venture between Yarrabank and the French Champagne house Devaux in the late 90's saw the construction of a spectacular winery, which would comfortably sit amongst the world's best. The amazing winery obviously attracts bus loads of tourists, some arrive by helicopter, but amongst wine enthusiasts the jury seems to be out about the quality of their wines. Personally I'm a fan, their entry label wines offer consistently good wines, this Carr C Block Shiraz Viognier is far from entry level at $60 a bottle but I still see it as good value. There's lots going on the oak is creamy and toasty, the fruit cherry and plumb with fine smooth tannins. I'm presuming age will be kind to it. Now how do I find out how much that helicopter to Yering Staion costs? 94/100
