P E T E R . In honour of the Legendary Peter Lindbergh's latest exhibition at Kunthsal, Rotterdam this weekend, I'm dedicating this Model Monday to the man who helped put the Super in Supermodel. With so many iconic fashion images, his work has been some of the most influential and insanely breathtaking of our time. From the, now iconic Angel in New York story ( Staring Amber Valetta for Us Harper's Bazzar ), to the legendary "Wild at Heart" story for Us Vogues 1991 September issue ( Staring Linda, Claudia, Cindy, Naomi, Tatjana, Stephanie, Karen and Helena, styled by Grace Coddington ), Peter has given us many magical and memorable moments in fashion over the years ( Remember this is the man credited for British Vogues January 1990 cover, of which introduced the world to a group of young women who would become known collectively as "The Supermodels" and consequently household names ). His ability to capture beauty during its most vulnerable and raw state, makes for interesting images that stimulate and excite, and his cinematic abilities are beyond incredible! For me there are so many great PL memories, but, for me, it's those shot for Harper's Bazzar under the editorial leadership of the late Liz Tilberis. I loved those images capturing the likes of Kate, Helena, Claudia, Amber and the rest, mostly shot in black and white, capturing aforementioned raw beauty and vulnerability. With the release of his new book, A Different Vision on Fashion Photography, I'm reflecting on some of his greatest images and even greater Muse's ( the established as well as the newly established ).
