shit, shit, shit, shit. it couldn’t be. finley. alive. no. she had seen a ghost. a cruel ghost. strangely warm and inviting and still unfairly kind. was this hell on earth? was this her end?
she took a moment to collapse against her door frame after finley left, sobbing. sure, she’d believed finley’s words to some extent, but with her suddenly gone again, tani couldn’t help, but think maybe it had just been an apparition. she was going crazy and someone was probably going to take her away.
she had watched fin die. five years ago, almost to the date, she’d told her best friend what her and finley were and she snapped. she tried to kill her and when finley stepped in — well, she thought she had for sure killed her. there had been too much blood for anyone to survive and moments later, she was gone. finley was gone. evaporated to nothing — just as she was now.
then after taking a few breaths and trying to find her way to her feet, she took one last look around, to see if maybe finley was still there before bolting to professor talebi’s office.
“professor, i don’t know how. and maybe i’m just going crazy, so just lock me up, but i- i saw my sister. i thought alive? but now i’m not so sure. i think my mind is just playing tricks on me. what’s wrong with me?”
