Orochimaru weighed time carefully; every moment was an important resource to him, something that had to be handled with deliberation. After all, a single second could hold crucial value. He enjoyed managing moments properly, assigning them the significance they deserved. He did not arrive late; to him, punctuality was more than simple courtesy - it was a form of control over his own life. This time was no different. At least at first. What he had not expected, under any circumstances, was that preparing for a date could be so time-consuming.

The legendary Sannin stood for quite a while before his open wardrobe, studying its contents with seriousness - perhaps even excessive seriousness. Fashion was a puzzling subject to him; he did not understand its framework at all. He had no sense of style, nor did he know any particular rules, so in this case he had to rely on his own intuition, which was… troublesome. He was not accustomed to solving life’s complications that way. In the end, he chose dark trousers, a light shirt, and a black blazer. To its lapel he pinned a small brooch - a silver snake devouring its own tail. It possessed a certain undeniable charm. When he finally looked at his reflection in the mirror, he admitted that he looked… quite presentable. Would it be enough to satisfy Shisui? He intended to find out.

Dates were another concept that remained something of an enigma to him. He did not understand their mechanics; he did not know the rules. In truth, it was simply another field of human experience with which he had not yet had contact. Orochimaru believed in one thing, however - the best method of learning was experience. And he truly enjoyed "experiencing."

He managed to reach the tea shop right on time. He crossed the threshold with a calm, unhurried step - almost graceful, even elegant. That was simply the way he moved. Meanwhile his gaze drifted slowly across the interior of the place. He noticed a few early guests, overheard the quiet murmur of conversation.

And then - in that single moment - he saw him.

His eyes settled on the man seated at a table in the far corner. Shisui looked… different. Orochimaru observed him with interest; had something changed? It was the most likely hypothesis.

He stopped beside the table and, for a moment, simply looked into Shisui’s eyes with a studying gaze. In the meantime, he allowed himself to sit down across from his lover. They remained in silence for a short while; Orochimaru saw nothing wrong with that. Silence had its place. It had its own charm. At least until Orochimaru decided to address the younger man directly.

— Indeed… the glasses add a certain charm to you. You look… well. Deadly. May I allow myself to use that expression this time?

The corners of his lips lifted involuntarily into a subtle, barely noticeable smile.

— I would ask you without hesitation whether you would go on a date with me, but…

His eyes flashed with something enigmatic — something almost mysterious.

— …I have the feeling that we are already on one.

Headcanon. Shisui is hardened when he sees human suffering to an extent, but when he sees a puppy or kitten on the sidewalk he becomes a puddle of tears. He doesn't trust anyone that has no reaction to animals. It's how he can tell if you'll get along with him or not. He will shut down automatically if he sees you are cold with animals. If he sees you treat animals with disrespect or cruelty get ready for a beating. (It's the only redeeming quality he sees in Obito.)

The only downside to this is, cats hate Shisui. Cats hiss and claw at him when he passes, and attack him viciously. Shisui is more of a dog person.

What am I seeing on my dash this morning? I know our threads got emotional that day but expecting Fugaku to be an lgbtq+ supporter and throw sns a coming out of the closet party is ridiculous? It's so unrealistic! And why is that anon confusing you with Fugaku? I think we touched a nerve. Isn't that what fiction is for? Good story telling?
