things in DAI that can eat my entire ass: shitty jumping mechanics and impossible climbs
this is in the exalted plains. there's a burned-out settlement of homes that are completely trashed, and there is stuff to be looted amongst the rubble
i compulsively slam my search button 3 times per second so when it started beeping and i couldn't see anything, i knew it was gonna be something like this
in the first picture i'm at ground level. the roof is caved in. you should just be able to climb up it to access the platform above, right? lolnope. it's too steep. you slide down it if you so much as try to stand or jump on it at all.
there's a bag to loot up on the platform, or i'd just figure i'm not supposed to be able to reach it. but that beeping from the unlooted bag is just mocking me at this point, and i need to get it. the red circle marks the loot bag on the 2nd floor, and the yellow line just marks the same wooden beam for reference between the two shots since they're at different angles
my boyfriend watched me spend almost an hour on this. i finally figured out that you have to jump where the blue arrows are.
you have to bunny hop precisely, exactly right on the furthest right side of the fallen roof, so that your feet catch on the broken pieces jutting out after you bump yourself up one or two jumps. you can't just hold one direction on the keyboard or control pad, because of the way you move when you jump and because it's at an angle, and you can't stand still, you have to turn while jumping. once you hit where the top blue arrow is, you can finally stand still and jump onto the upper ledge.
anyone ever bombed yourself out of a pit while playing metroid on the NES? i swear to god it felt like that. i had fucking flashbacks.
no, there was nothing important in the sack. garbage crafting materials i had a ton of. but it's the goddamn principle of the thing.
this wasn't the only spot like this but it was the most frustrating one thus far. there's one in redcliffe village that i think is flat out unreachable, thanks to invisible walls blocking it.
