By chance I happened across two of Ottessa Moshfegh's books & have been reading both. I definitely like My Year of Rest and Relaxation better. The stories in Homesick For Another World feel more like chapters in what should be longer stories than short stories. They feel incomplete and random. And now I know what people meant when they said her books have gross content. She didn't shy away from any bodily fluids. Even my pug is shocked by some of the content! Her stories cover sad & unlikeable characters & I'm not sure I'm really getting anything out of any of them. Her novel otoh has the same grotesque feel to it but with dashes of humor & insight that help lighten the darkness. Have you read either of these? What did you think of them?
