That song is “…well, better than the alternative”. I feel like the whole thing really fits his character from start to recent in the QSMP. Mostly because the song starts out very bubbly and ends up kind of aggressive and manic despite it being nearly the same chorus and music
Some rambles about specific lyrics below the cut vvv
The lyrics kind of repeat but change a little bit every time, and this is one of my favorite instances of that:
Everybody knows that nobody knows that
Everybody's in on everybody's business
Everybody knows that nobody knows that
Everybody's all up in my god damn business
Everybody knows that nobody knows that
Everybody's all up in my motherfucking business
Everybody knows that nobody knows that
Everybody's in on everybody's business
The first time it’s kind of accepting and indifferent sounding. The second time it’s seems sad and a bit frustrated. The third time it’s angry and tense and spiteful. The fourth time it seems accepting again, but not in the simple and dismissive way as the first time. It’s like he’s finally seen that this is how it’s going to be. Like he’s laughing at himself for thinking it could be different.
It’s not exactly the words or lyrics themselves that hold the meaning, I think it’s the way they’re sung and the context in which they are. It kind of reminds me the way that to everyone else, Slime seems like he’s never changed. He still makes jokes and goofs around like he always has, but now it’s about things that he never used to joke about. Now it’s in situations where nobody should be laughing. It’s how he knows something is wrong with him but he doesn’t know what to do about it other then laugh about it.
Cigarette burns, laugh lines, wide dimples
If they could see the future back when times were simple
Would they kiss your cheek or yank the bandage off
Let you speak or take advantage of how
If everyone's sick, well then nobody can catch it, and if everybody’s different how could anybody match
And we're looking through the pockets of the hand-me-downs we've laid out
Wondering if we'll fit into the yesterdays we've played out
This one reminds me of his relationship with Q!Mariana during/after the trial. They still love each other, clearly, but they don’t know what to do with the situation they’ve been given besides fight each other. It’s so incredibly easy to point fingers instead of finding a way to keep going together. There was a time where everything seemed nearly perfect. Perfect in their broken way but at least they were a family. Now Slime can’t help but wonder if it’ll ever be attainable again.
aaaaanyways ya!!!!! Some hot takes about q!slime and Will wood and watever idk what
