Root: So I was thinking about your thing.

Sameen: My thing?

Root: Your whole "I'm crazy and the world's just a simulation" thing? It's a little like when Harry had me locked up and I was questioning everything.

Sameen: Can we talk about this after the whole lethal shootout thing?

Root: No time like the present, Sameen. Besides, if this is just another simulation, who cares if we die?

Anyway, Schrodinger said at its base level, the universe isn't made up of physical matter, but just... shapes. I thought that might make you feel better.

Sameen: Seriously?

Root: A shape, you know? Nothing firm. What it means is the real world is essentially a simulation anyway.

Sameen: You are the last person I should have confided in about this.

Root: I liked that idea. That even if we're not real, we represent a dynamic. A tiny finger tracing a line in the infinite. A shape. And then we're gone.

Sameen: That's supposed to make me feel better? I'm a shape?

Root: Yeah. And, darlin', you got a great shape.

Sameen: [smiles] I swear to God, you flirt at the most awkward times.

Root: I know.

Root: Listen, all I'm saying is that if we're just information, just noise in the system... we might as well be a symphony.

Series Summary:  After the fall of Samaritan, the Machine allows for Shaw to follow in Root’s steps, going through identities “like dixie cups”. But her many undercover guises never seem to protect her from Root’s snooping flirtation. 

First installment of my fluff filled Shoot one-shot series (Dixie Cups).

Shoot S5 speculation

A Shoot progression theory compiled from Amy Acker’s description of the season (“unexpected, sexy, bittersweet”) + references dropped throughout the series + photos:

-Shaw references “second chances are overrated” earlier in the season, and then is later seen driving off with the Samaritan operative with the overlay narration “some are given a second chance”. Also, from the preview photos we can see that a band-aid is located behind her ear, similar to the area which we know Root’s implant to be.

What if Shaw had been revived from the ‘dead’ again by Samaritan with an implant functioning as its new interface communication (Unexpected). As a brainwashed spy, she infiltrates team machine. Root somehow uses their love to bring the real Shaw back, because love wins (Sexy). But then they find out Shaw requires this implant to live or something and the only way that Samaritan won’t cut the lifeline is if Root gives up her interface with the Machine, so Root’s forced to choose between her two loves and the fate of humanity (Bittersweet).
