There’s a hand on your shoulder and you turn. A smiling Will Halstead suddenly has a frown on his face when he sees you. 

Will’s eyes study you, his hands holding your arms. “What’s wrong?” you ask him, looking down at yourself.

“That’s blood, what happened? Are you okay ?” Will asks you, his hand reaching to touch the dark spot on your scrubs to show you. 

You smile, shaking your head. You grab a tissue and wipe the blood off his fingers. “Occupational hazard; patient was stabbed earlier, didn’t get a chance to change yet.” You tell him, tossing the tissue in the trash. 

Will sighs, nodding. “Had me worried for a second there.” he chuckles, “what time are you off?” 

“9, you?” “Same time, molly’s at 10?” he asks, skimming through the charts. 

“Absolutely.” you smile.

he would always be a gentleman to you of course but when there are some other filthy scums that try to get with you let’s just say he won’t be so gentle..

he sometimes gets insecure about his face but your always the one to tell him that he’s perfect the way he is and that always brightens up his entire day. he will always listen to you and hearing you say that about him gets him all sunshine-y.

you work as a waitress and he sometimes stops by on his break to chat with you, he notices a lot of disgusting looking old men stare at you like your some kind of meat and that gets his blood boiling.

he almost even got into a fight once.

“dear.. what if you leave me for them, i mean i can understand why.. just look at me.”

it felt like you were stuck, stuck in this relationship that you didn’t even know if you still want to be in anymore

this was not the richard hanover you fell in love with, it’s like he changed to a completely different person

ever since he’s been trying so hard to get his hospital up and running he would always yell at you for the littlest things

“HONEY THAT GOES THERE! GODDAMN IT...”

“LEAVE ME ALONE! JUST FOR A LITTLE WHILE..”

it’s gotten to the point where you were afraid to talk to him, anything you would say would immediately tick him off

betsy wasn’t the biggest fan of you, she tried getting your husband’s attention right in front of you and it made you quite upset. you wanted to say something to richard but your anxiety got the best of you so you kept your mouth shut

when richard finally got the memo of what betsy was trying to do he was beyond furious

“GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE BETSY! IF YOU CAN’T ALREADY TELL Y/N IS MINE, H/SHE’S THE ONLY PERSON FOR ME!”

you felt really bad when betsy ran off crying, you walked up to your husband. “honey you should really calm down, i don’t think it was right to yell at her...”

he looked up at you with a frustrated look which honestly made you a bit nervous

“don’t ever tell me to calm down, i’ve got so much work to do and i’m not even done with half of it. just leave me alone darling, i’ll get back to you as soon as possible.” he finally used his inside voice

you nodded and gently patted his shoulder, you didn’t know if you wanted to still be with him. a part of you still loves him but another part of you is just so scared of him and if you leave he will for sure pull something way worse

i guess you just have to suck it up and stay

I am not very good at this whole being dead and not feeling bullshit. I don’t really think he gets how fucked up he is, or maybe he does and he doesn’t care. Do I even care? And if I do, why?

It takes too much for my brain to think about, frankly. I ain’t gonna sit around and just mope about this all day. It’s just another obstacle, in my opinion. Does it hurt a bit more than it should, given how long I’ve known him? Maybe. I can’t really tell. It’s been a while since I’ve ever felt this much. Not all of it’s good. A lot of it is just frustration and anger and fear. 

Towards him, and towards myself. 

I wish you were here, sometimes. I know I don’t deserve your help or your forgiveness, but I wish I had someone to trust wholeheartedly. Someone to ask for advice from. Someone I don’t have to worry about feeling too much for. 

I just wish I had my little brother around, sometimes. Hope that don’t bother you none, wherever you ended up. 

I need another person to tell me this is a dead end. To remind me that nothing’s waiting at the end of this except pain and suffering for everyone involved. I need to be reminded that my dreams aren’t here, they are there.

I’m exhausted. I need to write in this thing more, but I don’t want it all to sound the same.
