Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game
Convention post #2, sorry it’s a little late. Here we go! Ran in to Alcoholic Luigi from Geekparty.com last night, so this my official shout out to him! Played a ROUSING game of Hex Hex with him. He won.
I have some new rules for you “hot off the presses”, today it’s Legendary (or “Wait-for-it” as I have affectionately nick-named it ala Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother). This is the longest post we’ve made so far, so bear with me!
First off, I LOVE this game. It’s in my top three favorite board/card games of all time. This may or may not be because I love deck building games and it prominently features my favorite super hero team, the X-men. This game features a combination of drinks and shots, so pay attention to the list. This game has a lot of rules, so it might be a good idea to print or write out the list for this one.
Take a drink whenever a master strike card is played
Take a drink whenever a Scheme Twist is played
Take a drink whenever you KO a hero from play or your hand
Take a drink whenever a hero is KO’d from the HQ
Take a shot when you purchase a card that costs 7 or more recruit points (the one-of spiderman triggers this rule as well, despite the fact that his cost is 2)
Take a shot whenever you fight the mastermind
Take a drink any time you gain a wound
Take a drink whenever a villain escapes
Take a shot whenever a villain escapes with 1 or more bystanders
If evil wins, every player takes a shot
Special rule: Players may take two drinks to randomly exchange any hero that has been selected at the beginning of the game. All players must agree to the hero change and all players must take the drinks.
Special Rule: Players may take a shot to exchange the mastermind that was selected at the beginning of the game. All players must agree to the mastermind change and must take the shot.
Team/Character Specific Rules
Avengers Assemble: The first time you activate an Avengers (any power that has the A symbol) Super Power give 6 drinks
X-gene mutation: At the end of the game, if your deck contains three or more different X-men team members, give 8 drinks
Cable and Deadpool: At the end of the game, if Cable and Deadpool are the only heroes you purchased this game (other than Maria Hill), give 4 drinks and take for drinks.
X-force Five: At the end of the game if you have two or more different X-force heroes in your deck, give 5 drinks.
Spidey Sense: At the end of the game, take a drink for each Spiderman hero you purchased this game.
Agents of Shield: At the end of the game, if your deck contains only Nick Fury and basic Shield Heros (including Maria Hill) give 10 drinks
Gods of Thunder: At the end of the game, if your deck contains only Storm and Thor heroes (aside from basic heroes), give 2 shots.
This game is pretty heavy on the drinking so I recommend using 1 to 2 shot mixed drinks. The Team Specific Rules are optional. I think they are kinda neat, but you may not want to increase the drinking amount that much. To the drink recommendations!

1 oz Rye Whiskey, 1 oz Cognac, 1 oz Sweet vermouth, 1tsp benedictine, 2 dashes peychaud bitters, 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Mix together in a large glass, over ice. Dilute with soda water if preferred. Drink while trying to work out what, if anything, Gambit’s name has to do with his powers.
Pour equal parts Vodka and Kahlua into a shot glass, pour that over ice and and add milk or cream.
1 oz. Blue Curacao, 1 oz. Orange Liqueur, 4 oz. Lemonade, Grenadien syrup. Pour the Blue Curaçao, orange liqueur, and lemonade into a highball glass full of ice. “Sink" the grenadine by dropping a few dashes down the side of the glass so that it sinks to the bottom.
1 oz Jim Beam, 1 oz Johnny Walker, 1 oz Jack Daniels, 3 oz ginger beer, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp cherry liqueur. Pour the cherry liqueur over crushed ice in a large glass. In a separate container, such as a jug or a bowl, although a jug would be easier for pouring so maybe go with that, mix together the lemon juice, Jim, Johnny and Jack. Add to the glass. Finally, add the ginger beer and stir slowly.
2 oz. Vodka, 1 oz. Frangelico, cream. Pour vodka and Frangelico over ice-cubes in a short glass. Stir slowly, then top with cream.
2 oz black rum, 8 oz ginger beer, lime. Pour rum and ginger beer over ice in a short glass. Decorate with slice of lime
