Athletic/Athleisure Honest Shorts Review
🩳👟
I should probably start this off by saying I am not normally a shorts person. Especially around the house and for working out. I have thick thighs 🦵🏽 and that is not an especially conducive feature for shorts.
When I wear shorts out in the summer they are normally Lilly Pulitzer or Crown and Ivy in the summer time and they are for a nice dinner or during a beach trip. Even then I prefer at least a five inch inseam and I am still very self conscious of my legs. Long history 🗄 of confidence issues that I won’t bore you with today.
But in the era of quarantine and 100+ heat index, I decided that more shorts in the wardrobe for casual wear would be extremely helpful, which brings us to this review!
My first purchase was a set of two bike shorts from TJ Maxx. I went in there because I desperately needed a good deal on smaller sports bras and a water bottle with a handle for walks (50% success on that) but found these near the front while there and decided to take a chance. They’ve been great for at home workouts and have great stretch and feel amazing. Also perfect for yard work and cleaning days when it’s just plain hot. At $10 for the set I’m calling these a must have.
The other set I’m reviewing is the Essential Mid-Rise Knit Short from Target by All in Motion. I got these in grey and plum to have some variety. I wanted these more so as a short I could hang out in and pair with T-shirts when hot. These are perfect for that and could maybe work for yoga but I would probably get chafing using them for other exercise. They do have pockets which is always a bonus. They are a slicker material not cotton like I was expecting, so noting that as well. These are a littler higher, $14 a pair but still a pretty good value.
