Choosing our name

For awhile we had in mind what we wanted to do, but we couldn't come to agreement on what to call it. The idea was to convey to our users something that was fun, easy and had an element of gaming and shopping.  So how did we come up to it?

Step 1:  Gimmie

According to Urban Dictionary a gimmie is:

More or less a freebie that requires some sort of (minimal) effort to obtain. Often used in the context of athletics, but may have other applications.

Because we both love basketball, we had often heard the phrase Gimmie in reference to an open jumpshot or more commonly uncontested layup. Here is a great tutorial on Layups by an ex teammate. Go Knights!

The reason we chose Gimmie and not Gimme, is because we didn't want people to get confused with a short version of Give Me or gimme.  Instead Gimmie is supposed to represent some action that is so easy you are expected to obtain the result with little or no effort involved.

We liked that because it explains that for users, you don't need to do anything new or challenging to get our points and rewards. 

So that took care of the first part, but how to apply the Gimmie concept to mobile?

For that, we thank Annie Phan who suggested that mobile is the one thing that found everywhere throughout the world.  By letting everyone the chance to obtain gimmie's wherever they were, it became obvious to us that we were creating a GimmieWorld

In our World, every experience in the applications, websites and games you use on your phone can become a rewarding experience.  Simply find the unique gimmie events (the layups) and watch your point total go higher and you can apply those points for a real reward of your choice.
