grains of sand stuck to kiara's skin, the coarse feeling of it slightly uncomfortable. slim fingers wrapped around a cool beer bottle, the liquid inside had been teetering on lukewarm for a while. lips pressed to the bottle, as she took a swig. the start of summer bonfire was an event not to be missed, regardless of class status. ripples of wind rustled through her hair and clothes, the salt sea air only added to the summer vibes. long legs extended to stand, finally ready to mingle now that she'd had a few sips of beer. the beginnings of a smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she mingled. finally in her element. there was nothing quite like socializing and getting to know other people.
it was only when she spotted the blonde hair that framed her best friends face like a halo, that she truly allowed herself to get excited. a slight bounce to her step as kiara made her way over to her. free arm languidly wraps around the other girls shoulder, pulling her in for an awkward side hug. the brunette had never been one for open affection. rare exceptions were made only when she'd had some alcohol to relax her inhibitions. “ have i ever told you that you're my best friend? ” question falls lazily from her lips, as she takes another swig of beer. with all the time that she spent drinking beer with the boys prior to sarah officially joining the group, one would think that her alcohol tolerance would be a lot higher. fortunately for kie, it only took a single bottle of beer to feel the pleasant buzz that tipsy could bring. “ you're like… ” kiara pauses, slight giggle following her words. “ the thelma to my louise. ”

ugh, kie swears she can't take sarah anywhere without something like this happening. she would think after years of rejection topper would've gotten the hint by now or at least have the sense to be a little embarrassed at the way he acts around her, the fact that he has clearly never gotten over her. a girls day on the beach had been what she and sarah needed and so far, it had been great. later kie had stepped away, running back to the twinkie to grab their cooler and cringing when she spotted frosted tips had made his way over to sarah the second she was alone, only to tuck his tail between his legs and take off again when he noticed kiara coming back. "dude, seriously?" she scrunches her nose at sarah, shooting topper a diry look before looking back at her best friend. "what does he have a tracker on you or something? what did he even want?"

It's three a.m. when she sneaks back into the house, making sure to be as quiet as a mouse. The last thing that Kiara wants is to alert any of the others all snuggled up in their beds, warm and cozy with each other. At the top of their stairs, she's about to turn and head into her room before she practically runs into Sarah. ꪮꫝ. What was she doing out here awake at this time of the early morning? "What are you doing?" She asks in a voice just above a whisper.
