“Sero.” With an uncharacteristic hesitance and lowered gaze Shouto approached his classmate with one hand held behind his back and the other clenched at his side.

“I’m sorry, but there was an incident and I hope that our friendship can survive the consequences of my careless actions because what I’m about to show you, while not intended, is something I feel betrays the trust you had in me.”

“If you’re not going to eat them I don’t really have any reason to refuse. It’d be a shame to let anything go to waste if you went through the trouble of making them yourself." Who was he to refuse free food? Onigiri were always a nice, simple meal or snack to fill up on during a long day of training or school work.

“I tried making them once with my sister not so long ago. I thought they’d be simple when for the most part they’re just rice, some filling, and nori but every time I tried to shape one it’d turn into a giant mess and all the ones I made looked terrible. Making food is a lot more complicated than I ever thought it’d be...”

“I hadn’t really thought about it too much before but I just noticed that the time you’ve already spent in the hero course has definitely had an effect on you.” Shouto observed, poking a little at Hiro curiously. His friend had always been on the skinny side and generally small when he’d rather be tinkering than exercising but he sure had been getting a lot more athletics in since transferring.

“You’d still have a long way before you end up looking like any of the other boys in our class- not that you have to- but you’re definitely starting to show some muscle. I guess the closest I could ever reasonably compare you to is Midoriya because he’s small but I could never picture you with his amount of muscle. He’s deceptively strong even without using his quirk.”

"When you say things like that I think it really solidifies that I’m the cool one in this relationship, both literally and metaphorically.” Eyes rolled but the cheesy line still did get a smile out of him as Shouto lightly bat at Katsuki’s arm. At the beginning of their relationship, despite knowing how often Katsuki strung together the most absurd words he could, Shouto would’ve been a little more surprised to hear something like that come out of the blonde’s mouth, but he’s long since become used to how sappy this man could be.

"If your highschool self could hear the things you’re always saying to me now I think he’d actually, genuinely, try to kill you.”

“I’m really having trouble figuring out whether this is a real question or not but, answering honestly, I’d have to say no. Mayonnaise is not an instrument. It’s a condiment.”

“Apologies, I think I may have gone into this more confident than I should have been. It just didn’t seem like it’d be all that difficult but clearly I was wrong.” Shouto spoke up sheepishly after the third instance of having accidentally stepped on Izuku’s foot. Shouto would never claim to have any amount of fancy footwork in regular circumstances, his quirk’s range meant that there was a lot of times he could stay right where he was or move a minimal amount to achieve whatever goal he’d set out to conquer, but dancing?

Though his partner was a bit awkward sometimes, this was absolutely a skill he saw Izuku mastering ages before he ever could himself.

“It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if you decided to dance with someone who won’t hinder you. The last thing I want is to end up injuring you.” He’d like to believe that was true but there was a little part of Shouto that hoped the other wouldn’t take his suggestion and run with it and maybe- just maybe- his hands tightened just a fraction on Izuku’s hoping he wouldn’t leave.

“There are a lot of things I don’t know how to do, this is just another one on the list, I guess. Things like dancing aren’t necessary for combat training so I was never taught how. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone in my family dance before, actually.”

@tenacityblitz​ : Shoto better not pinch Bakugou’s cheeks if he knows what’s good for him—

It’s a bad idea, Shouto knows it’s such a bad idea if he doesn’t want his ear drums blown out by Bakugou’s yelling or an explosion to the face, but he just couldn’t help himself. For the last two minutes he’s abandoned eating his own meat bun, captivated by the sight of Bakugou’s full, round cheek as he ate. Why? He wasn’t completely sure, but his free hand was twitching with the desire to reach out.

So he did.

Throwing all caution to the wind, he decided to just go for it- to go beyond, PLUS ULTRA, as they say- reaching up to give his friend’s cheek a little squish.
