Tuesday's show

Overall, for me. I think the show went really well. To begin with, I wasn't nervous at all so my nerves didn't negatively effect me. I think I gave everything, and danced to the best of my abilities. Considering we learned two new sections the day of the show I am very pleased with the fact that I didn't forget them. A few thing a did go wrong as a company for the inters, and some individuals did make mistakes. However, for myself it went really well. To begin with, for me faded went really well. I think I performed it and had the most energy I ever have whilst performing that number. The only problem for me was some of the spacing but it wasn't half as bad as it usually is so this shows we are improving and getting used to the spacing in the theatre. I still seemed to be a tiny bit off centre in some sections, which was hardly noticeable. The beginning seemed to be in time like usual, and I didn't hit Maisie by accident when I usually would. Also, from what I saw Jonah's solo received a really positive reaction and people cheered when he did his unique dance moves. Unfortunately, Levi's nerves really effective him negatively and he was too unstable to hold Emily during the lift in faded causing him to fall over, instead of making it obvious they quickly got up and ran off stage like professionals ready for the next section. He took his initiative to not do the next lift with Paige incase it jeopardised her safety and she didn't stop running to make it look like nothing was wrong. I feel this will make it a whole lot less obvious that it had gone wrong and was a very professional thing to do. As well as this, during the beginning section a peer accidentally turned on all of the lights including the audience; this then meant we had to carry on dancing like professionals acting like it didn't happen so it wasn't too obvious it was a mistake. It not lasted 3 seconds because it quickly got resolved. Despite me thinking I did really well others felt certain sections were really bad and off time. Because I'm in front I can't see the timing behind me so I was unaware of this. I feel to make this better people need to look at the peers in front to get the timing correct because I know the counts of this piece. Instead of everyone being off time, if they took notice of others it would look more on time. Another thing that didn't go according to plan was the lighting towards the end. Jonah and Levi stayed in the spotlight for longer than expected and instead of being professional and staying quiet for he tech people to fix Levi said something. Luckily, no body herd. For the rest of the routine I stayed mostly on centre and finished all of my movements and performed them well. The only problem I have is trying not too laugh when I can see audiences faces in front of me, when this happened I seemed to loose focus. Considering my trio kept on going wrong before hand, luckily for the show it went extremely well, we was all in time everybody held in their core and performed. For the next show we all need to improve out timing as a group in a few sections to make the choreography look more effective. Greyhound was another number that went extremely well. However had some technical issues. To begin with considering we usually find it hard to get into our positions in black out we did it quite well and when the lights slowly came on nobody was in the wrong position. I think our energy was at the best it has ever been and each of us fully committed to the piece. Considering in rehearsal Jonah kept on getting the canon section wrong, he finally got it right for the first time which shows he really tried hard to get it correct and not let anybody down. The transition between the two V's went well and we was all on time for once. During the build up before the chorus section we all attacked the simple movements to make them look strong. Unfortunately the canon lighting was quite late and came on at the wrong time, despite this no one got distracted and carried on like usual. Putting into consideration 6 of us had learned a completely new section in the dance, none f us got it wrong and remembered the counts correctly which is quite an achievement. For the trio section with Millie and Ella which is also new we got all of it correct and really attacked it. Even though Ella got one movement wrong she quickly corrected herself and carried on instead of making it obvious. Jonah decided to add his own leap on a certain section was quite inappropriate because it wasn't technically correct or in the original number which he shouldn't of done, so for the next show he needs to stick to the choreography and not personalise it. Lastly, for the freestyle section which most of is loathe, we all individually did our own thing whilst interacting with everyone. The energy was at the best it has ever been and we all moved close to the front to make the audience feel part of it. It made me happy to see everyone really going for it making the end section definitely the strongest. I feel the end section was the one I went for the most and think is the most effective out of them all. Even our director told us it was the best performance we had ever done, so we should all be proud. To improve, we need to sort out the lighting to make sure the queues are correct and go over our new sections to make sure no don't forgets them this time.

First Project Evaluation

Ways of seeing evaluation I think the overall project was a success in terms of us as a company making and performing a physical theatre piece. I do think there were some parts we didn't do so well in when it comes to the project as a whole but the general criteria for this project was met rather successfully in my opinion. I think the project was most successful during its practical stages, where the company would physically be practising or performing a sequence that had potential to be in our final piece. I think these were the most successful parts because it was these parts where we as a company were the most focused and came together more, even though we still had our disputes and disagreements. The most unsuccessful part of the project was trying to get group focus during warm ups. This was unsuccessful because we were very divided as a company when it came to views on we should do as a collective, I think this was mainly because there are so many strongly opinionated people in our company, so when we disagree it causes a lot of issues between because each person believes they are right, we needed to put our ego's aside and put the needs of the group before our owns. I generally think that our piece was unique and different from all other companies that performed, but if I could redo it and have more time I would have lengthen the "love&hate" sequence and slow it down. I think that the "love&hate" sequence we did was very strong but I do think we lost some of the effects it had when to sped up the piece. If we slowed it down more I think we would have really captured the intensity of the sequences . As a company I think we learned how to compromise when it came to how we wanted to perform certain parts of our piece, an example of this is the torture sequence, we as a company thought it should be run with us making vocal sounds because we felt we performed it better with them, but the director disagreed and thought the best thing for the piece is for us making as little vocal noise as possible and we as actors had to accept it and compromise that our idea would not be used. As a individual one of the strength I gained was patience, I found myself being a lot more patient with members of my company than I previously have been. I think this patience comes from building a relationship with members of my company and being able to be more understanding towards each and everyone of them, as well as realising that we may be working together but we all individual and we all need to be spoken in different ways to one another, knowing some people may take longer than others to process thoughts or to even understand the scenario. I think we got a very emotional response from the audience, most people saying it touched them emotionally, I think we were able to get such a good reaction because we were dedicated to to the piece and committed ourselves 100% and I think it really showed.. I think the overall experience of "ways of seeing" was a very in site full project, it really gave me a sense of how it is to work together as a company as well as teaching my the life lesson on how to handle working different people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds . I was really pleased with the pice that we made, I feel it's different from the other because we really did leave things down to interpretation and I think every audience member felt that piece differently and made their own personal connection with it

Without Words, The Actors Performances.

The 1st piece we saw was Laura’s group; they used umbrellas as a really creative prop in this piece. The umbrellas were used to create lots of different images; they started off representing babies and evolved into guns, walking sticks and imprisonment bars. The timing of this piece was really good. Particular individuals really stood out for their use of facial expression and the way they portrayed the piece using their bodies.

The 2nd piece was directed by curly and Claire. This was on of my favourite pieces to watch. It started off with a really powerful image made using their bodies to create height with different lifts. Some upbeat music started playing and the whole atmosphere changed into a real fun and amusing piece with a dance party/scene this was really unexpected and enjoyable to watch. This piece then took a really emotional journey and ended up with a complete juxtaposition of feelings at the end compared to the beginning. The use of their blue cloth was also really effective my favourite image they created was one of the last ones when the blue cloth covered them all.

The 3rd acting piece had a really creepy feel to start with and they had nail tapping in perfect time which led into a scratching sound. This group also used a cloth really effectively to create images; one particularly powerful image was when they hid their bodies beneath the sheet and left their hands around the edge crawling out as if trying to escape. I also enjoyed this group’s use of lifts especially when two people were running under the sheet to meet in the middle.

The HND acting piece was the last piece to be watched and it had a really clear storyline. The piece had a creepy feel to it and focused on the oriental element of the stimulus. The story line for their piece was the most clearly portrayed and was creepy and sinister. It was really interesting to watch how they used their bodies and minimal props out of all the acting groups to produce their piece. The stage combat was also really clever and well thought out. I particularly like the way they showed Rhys characters death, they lifted him laid out with his head to the audience when Ria’s character snapped his neck it fell and his head was facing out to the audience and slack to show his death.

3rd night

Another great night performance wise tonight. Enthusiasm and excitement was at an all time high and we felt a lot more confidant that we really had a show and that it would be a good performance. Also, because the plotting had been worked and polish earlier, the lighting cues were a lot more on point technical-wise, and I felt that we could focus on really enjoying the show tonight rather than worry about what could go wrong because we'd already proved to ourselves that we could do it, and enjoy it we did! We had a bit more laughter from the audience tonight and quite a positive response in general. Enjoying the piece is what I felt made it particularly strong tonight because it meant that we could be true to our fearless, carefree childlike charactors. Even when things went wrong on stage the actors involved dealt with it professionally, for example during the Memnon scene we were missing a stick which the Sams lift Betty on, but they coped with this error but just lifting her themselves. I admit to panicing slightly in this moment, but I managed to pass it off as a character reaction to the scene rather than it being Amy panicing. 

Despite the mostly good audience we did have an audience member who claimed that it was the most boring thing they'd ever seen in their life to Nikki, but I admired Robbie's ability to get us to look on the brightside when he told us about this, but reminded us that when this play was first performed it did have a very contraversial reaction, so we had evidently done our job well! :)

Opening night

The show began unfortunately late due to overrunning plotting on the set, so there was a lot of pressure on us to put out an entertaining show that was worth the wait the audience had to hold on for. In our piece I feel that our transitions were on point and everyone seemed confidant in what they were doing, and I felt very familiar with what I had to do, and I think we all managed to stay in character throughout the transitions. The cues were a bit off though, and in Act 3 sc 1 Mike forgot his line so I had to cover, and like the other day it made it look as though I was late, so I spoke to him about itt but I will make sure I'm always on standby in that moment to fill in if necessary. I think the diction in our piece could have been better, and before the show we didn't really have the time to do a thorough vocal warm up, so for tomorrow's performance we will have tp either do a warm up as a company, or take responsibility for preparing ourselves. A few technical errors brought the piece down a bit as well, for example sometimes voices couldn't be heard by the band and in the Memnon scene it took a little while for his mic to be turned on. The ensemble moments went quite smoothly and I felt that everyone was giving out a good energy which bounced around the stage, and it felt like a fun performance, except it did seem to drag a bit. We completed our piece in 40 minutes, so I'm not sure if cuts will need to be made, or we just need to up the pace.

When we were joining ni the third play for the dance, things went a bit tits up and because the music was slightly different we all endedup just having to go for it and cover up the fact that we didn't know what was going on. The scene after where Ubu is taken away was a bit of a challenge for the Cocu company because we didn't even know we'd be in this part, and we hadn't worked it at all so we literally just had to improvise our reactions and pay attention to the rest of the ensemble.

I think for the first night we did well so drive through the piece with the energy we did, and first nights are bound to have errors so it was inevitable that it wouldn't be perfect. The company and the directoors are all in this together though and I trust that tomorrow we will address any issues that need to be sorted.

Show evaluations

Opaning night Tonight was the opaning night to are show and there was a mixes feelings of emotion in the air but also a sense of excitement as well. I think that for a opening night it was good but there was some slit hick ups on the way the one witch I would like to point out is the crocodile which did mess up a bit and having to inpro a line were we could do it properly done but what we as a company must Realises that is the opening night and sometimes we have some hiccups so all we must do is get on with it and perform better. I think the strongest performance in our case was performed by Andy and jack I found the performance is very strong and very well performed and I found there Characters very enjoyable to watch. Also one more thing witch I would like to add is I found the opening with Steven and his polyhedra very Entertaining I think that Steven has found a very good character in the play and mad it his own 2end I found tonight was better then the previous night I fill that it was more then just a show but are best one yet the transitions was more sharper and more quicker but I fill that was more slower no the diolog with the actors so I fill that they need to show bait more conviction and a bit more speed with the texs. Yet again I fill that there was suction actor witch did stand out tonight and I fill they were Robert Steven and James I find that the treo are funny as hell and they put a smile on my face with a performance with a pinch of comedy and a spoon full of Physicality make a Brilliant team up. 3rd Tonight was good but we could have done a better performance then tonight evey thing was very sloppy and I did fill bait ashamed that we were more energised and I found it hard to here some of the character diolog so I think that they need more protection and more diction Especially for Betty I find it hard to understand her as she was mumbling her words and was just speeding them out so I fill that she needs to slow down her word and make them more cleaner for her self and the Audience members. 4th Tonight was better then the night before I fill that it was more fast past and more clearer then last night Performance I felt that it was more past and I felt that all performers had more of a presents on the stage as well but I did feel after today actions with one of the actors and that was a big let down not just for us but for are directors as well how look at us as Professionals but I fill that as soon as we were on stage we had to give it are best and we did better then expected so it was good knowing that we was a actor down but we was not out and I'm thankful to the directors who was there for not pulling are show and giving us the Opportunity to show that we can do a show no matter what happens to us Mater nays 1st The first mater nay was not as good as I expected to be I felt that it lack Foraging commitment not just one second year at first your actors as well I think that as it was a matinee people didn't expect it to be as good and wanted to say the energy for tonight You could so that it was a bad show by the lack of commitment and fellowship actors thinking that it wasn't going to be a big deal so I find it hard for first-year actors is committed as they are in matinees at the fact of the matter is still a shower and is still happy to perform to a high professional standard But I cannot say much myself the second year actors weren't as confident and has hearing is the first years We were alone this matinee was not the most successful of shows even if with the family fun to 12 people should show her conviction and more professionalism from all actors from all companies 2nd The second mesilate which was the nights are not our last show how shall I say morning was quite good and quite energised from the second year actors personalities were not as successful but we will four-minute in front of Robbie and Gavin which was a shame because it was such a good show and we didn't have an audience to perform in front of I found out the transitions were very sharp and suffice and I felt that is we had to pick up the energy from the first year actors are at the film that it was a faster than expected But I will point out once again it was a shame that there was no it's members to perform in front of only Gareth and Robbie so it was yet again I will repeat myself Ashamed that a good show. 6th After the shocking matinee which all the actors have to put up with you and so was much better and much more faster and seem to have more energy than the mater nay After all companies were very good and I felt that my company was more points and more focused than previous nights bats we did have a few hiccups such as transitions yet again and is also the facts of dialogue being less projected So I do think that actors even pounds individually should do vocal exercises to help them projects more and help them being heard not just for the audience safe but also for the other actors which are working alongside them. 8th The last show was upon us and there was excitement in the air one thing I will say go and pardon me if you find it a bit offensive but I don't think that it was a quite a show with bats at the end of the day we got a shell out only did the transitions weathered the actors were brilliant and addiction was the one thing that I found very disturbing was that it didn't feel like a good show to go out on I do feel ashamed that this is à la show not meaning that the play isn't good I just felt that the likely the phone wasn't at least I think it was a good show no matter what but I feel we could have done better as a company that I did have a sense of happiness knowing that I spent the last two years of my life with a company which I had the highest amount of respectful and the greatest honour to perform with. Tomorrow I will be putting it up my overall evaluation for it will take me time to put as much detail as I can I'm sorry but I'm finding it hard to put into words so if you could just be a little more patient I will be back to you tomorrow thank you very much
