I just made a personal rant on Tumblr, and thought I’d throw it here too.
HERE GOES.
Buckle up, cisgender friends, it's time to delve into a world that may be new to you. I'm going to talk openly about something because it's important to me. IT INVOLVES GENITALS. Read on if you'd like to learn something, because this is the world we live in and I am not ashamed.
Going off my last post - I have clearly been very lucky in that the transphobia I experience these days is usually more generalised ignorance from cishet people, as opposed to more direct, thought out hatred.
Because I had never heard the term "shrimpdick" before.
Unlike "girldick" which is a creepy term used for the genitals of a pre/non-op transwoman, which some transwomen are totally fine with as it seems to only ever be used in a positive, if potentially fetishistic, light...
'Shrimpdick' is an insulting term for a transgender man's genitalia. An insult that mostly comes from other trans or queer people, NOT cishet people. (Much like biphobia in the gay community, trans people get regularly shat on by the queer community and even other trans people.)
Let's get funky, cis friends.
You may never encounter a transman's junk, but you will undoubtedly encounter a transman (I mean, you all have) and Lord knows people are obsessed with what is between our legs.
If you go on Testosterone treatment, your bits down below change. For some people it's a lot, some people just a little, and it's all sorts of subtle changes. What ISN'T subtle, is clitoral growth. I mean for some people it is quite subtle, but for others it isn't. It is, for the majority of people, a wholly positive and awesome thing.
So to know that there's a specific insult for what is a beautiful and natural thing is really disgusting and surprisingly upsetting to me!
If you see shit like this, defend us.
Defend the human body.
Defend sex organs because they're so gross and beautiful and great and you have no idea what someone's relationship is with their body (this goes for both cis and trans people!), just respect that they have a body in the first place and everyone is fucking beautiful.
And if I ever catch you mocking people's genitalia, I will cut you.
