What if the whole reason Grian started doing the boyfriend ASMRs is because he got to a point where he had to do SOMETHING about his crush or he would have exploded. He just couldn't take it anymore. So instead he starts his channel, not really thinking anyone will watch. He uses scenarios he always fantasizes about him and Mumbo doing as his video ideas, And he's terrified, but yeah he locked his door, but the walls are thin, and he can always hear Mumbo (which is both a perk, and problem)
But he does it, and posts the video, and then he does it again and its helping! Better yet, People are enjoying them! Because he goes off of what he fantasizes about it ends up being exactly what others want/need and he gains a small, dedicated following.
And Mumbo, well he's not going to tell Grian he found his channel. Both of them have been friends for so long, and they're far too scared to say anything because what if it ruins their friendship!? But Mumbo loves the videos and he ends up watching them, not only at night but also whenever he's just feeling low. Some of these things he also fantasizes about, and others give me ideas. He finds it a little bit hard to separate the reality from the videos, and he has to catch himself a few times before saying something. But the videos are really helping with, what he thinks, unrequited feelings for his best friend!
There's a few times where he's watching a video, and he'll be caught off guard because Grian will throw in things that happened to them, or off offhandedly reference something they talk about. and he doesn't know how to react.
Maybe Mumbo even saves up so he can buy a mic for Grian, in secret of course, through an anonymous fan account. And Grian get all flustered about it because this was just meant to be a way to cope with his crush, but people like it so much that someone bought him better equipment???
And time goes on, neither of them say anything to the other, but then Grian has to go out of town for a few days for work, or family or something, and Mumbo misses him, He always does, way more than he should, but the videos help because he can still listen to Grian's voice. And then when Grian gets back he uploads a video titled "Boyfriend calls you to tell you how much he misses you" and Mumbo lets himself pretend that it's real, that Grian made it because he missed him, cause gosh does he want it to be. (It is, Grian made it and recorded it before going to bed one of the nights to stop himself from calling Mumbo and confessing how much he loves and misses him.)
Eventually Mumbo walks into Grian's bedroom while he's recording and Grian goes bright red. Mumbo ends up confesses he's known about the videos for awhile and listens to them. Which makes Grian even more embarrassed, he may or may hide his face in a pillow. But anyways then they confess their feelings for each other and kiss, and its super gay.
Mumbo still watches Grian's videos, and sometimes after watching them he'll walks up behind him, kisses Grian on the cheek, and compliments the newest video. This, of course doesn't fail to make Grian all flustered. Mumbo takes notes on some of the things Grian makes videos about, and keeps a list for date night ideas. On the other hand Grian will still reference weird/funny moments that happened between them and put them in his videos. But now it's also little things that come up on the romantic side of their relationship. He adds them as a little message to Mumbo, enjoying that there's a little secret in his videos that only the two of them understand. These never fail to make Mumbo smile, and remember the moment.
Grian keeps making asmr videos because he enjoys it, and Mumbo fully supports him. They end up moving into a quieter apartment, still with 2 rooms, but this time one of them gets turned into an office for Grian. And maybe even eventually Grian ask Mumbo if he wants to be in a video, and so they make a video, and even though Grian never says that Mumbo his partner, and cuts out all the parts that they break character to kiss or be gay and whatnot, he still gets comments about how close the too clearly are.
