A Difference in Perspective (Closed Starter)
(This is a closed starter for Sumire)
Iain stood in front of his family’s portrait, taking it all in. His mom was there, and his dad, and his sister. If what Monoko was saying was true, “tender love and care” implied that they were in his possession. That means that his family, the people that loved him and raised him and cared about him, were in the hands of someone who wanted people to be killing each other, and were likely in danger.
So why didn’t he feel anything?
Iain frowned. He wasn’t particularly concerned about them, even though given the circumstances, he really thought he should be. It was an odd sensation, and it didn’t make much sense to him. He had always been fairly neutral to his family, but right now, he felt apathetic to their plight, and that bothered him a bit. Had the situation already distanced himself from his emotions? He certainly hoped not. That would suck balls.
Forcing it wouldn’t be right either though. He couldn’t make himself to feel something he didn’t. He’d have to be honest with himself; just telling himself he was concerned wouldn’t make it more true. But that meant admitting he didn’t care. It frightened him. That was quite the pickle.
Iain shrugged and began to leave out. He wasn’t sure what emotions his face was conveying, but he was sure that this person he’d just made eye contact with did. He looked back at her long enough for it to probably be considered awkward, before looking down at his shoes. That was weird.
